Call to Worship (Based on Psalm 139) You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue You, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me. Opening Prayer Loving God, Thank you because you are the Creator; you know us, you formed us. Such a thing is hard to comprehend, and yet you open our eyes to see and contemplate the work of your hands. Prayer of Confession and Lament Almighty God, When we don t give permission to others to be themselves; when our expectations don t create safe spaces. When we say, Hello, how are you? and we don t want to hear how the other is; when we only expect that others will see bright colours, and we don t accept or allow the colour grey from others lives or from our own lives. When we keep our feelings trapped inside like in cages, or we impose that on others; when we speak about freedom yet we constrain the spoken and unspoken words. When we disempower and control others, rather than release and encourage each other; when we the probability rather than the possibility; when we only see the person with a disability, and ignore the special abilities of that person. When we don t celebrate the differences, and disconnect from each other; when we don t understand mental illness and only pay attention to physical illness, Lord, equip us to embrace everyone, to discover the real meaning of inclusion, to walk the talk, and follow in Jesus steps without prejudice, and with love, in Jesus name, Amen. Words of Affirmation (Philippians 1:6) Brothers and Sisters, we have good news: The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving even though we have rebelled against him. (Daniel 9:9) God is faithful. He ll complete the good work that he has begun in us. Thanks be to God! page 3

Reflection Hymn Christ be our light by Bernadette Farrell Prayers of the People Dear Lord, We bring before you people struggling with mental illness; we pray for provision, for resources that enable. We pray for those suffering and their families who face the challenges of little understanding, discrimination within the community, and isolation. Lord, hear our prayers. Mental illness can affect anyone, of any gender, of any age, any culture, any socio-economic status. Lord in your mercy touch the hearts of politicians and governments, who can implement better programs, more research, that can close the gap between those who have a lot of support, and those who have none. Lord, hear our prayers. Renew their strength and ability to find ways to continue on. We pray for mercy and grace to enable communities to engage with each other, to identify loneliness and a lack of a sense of belonging within our society. Help us to be my brother s keeper. Lord, hear our prayers. Merciful God, Grant us your peace and grace in such a way that whoever comes across our path will see Jesus eyes in us. Enable us to walk alongside people, learning from each other, in this journey of life, in the name of Jesus, Amen. page 5

Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil for the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever, Amen.
