Who Will Roll Away the Stone? Why I Believe in the Resurrection Key Text: Mark 16:1-8 Celebration Church Saturday, April 15, 2017 Charles Curtis Mark 16:1-8 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus' body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb? But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. Don't be alarmed, he said. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.'

Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid. I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will crush your head, while you strike at his heel. (The Protoevangelium - First Gospel ) - Genesis 3:15 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell (Sheol: Grave, Death); neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. - Psalm 16:10 when thou shalt make His soul an offering for sin... He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand. As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see light and be satisfied - Isaiah 53:10,11 Slide 9 God s Plan: Christ s Death was the determined plan of God, revealed in Old Testament Scripture - 24 Prophecies Peter Stoner: Author: Science Speaks: The chance of one man fulfilling 8 prophecies, through human wisdom and initative is 1 in 10 to the 17 th power (10*10*10*10*10*10*10*10*10*10*10*10*10*10*10*10*10) Take 1017 silver dollars and lay them on the face of Texas. They will cover all of the state two feet deep. Now mark one of these silver dollars and stir the whole mass thoroughly, all over the state. Blindfold a man and tell him that he can travel as far s he wishes, but he must pick up one silver dollar and say that this is the right one. What chance would he have of getting the right one? Just the same chance that the prophets would have had of writing these eight prophecies and having them all come true in any one man, from their day to the present time, providing they wrote using their own wisdom. http://sciencespeaks.dstoner.net/christ_of_prophecy.html Slide 10

(Mt. 16:3) Because of the resurrection of Christ, nothing is impossible with God, and every challenge of life, as a "Stone of Impossibility," is subject to the final authority of the Resurrected Christ. Because Christ is Risen - Eternal life is not a myth, but a reality for everyone who believes, and confesses, Jesus Christ is Lord.
