GREATER DAYTON CORVETTE CLUB (GDCC) Minutes April 20, 2016 President Freddie Haugh called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Thirty-one members were in attendance. ANNOUNCEMENTS/GUESTS The club welcomed guests: Beth and Joe Linsenmeyer owners of a 2013 Crystal Red Grand Sport. Daniel Marck owner of a 2009 Victory Red Z06. Freddie thanked Dan Gorby and Donna Tucker for hosting the dinner out on April 9 at Chappy s. Freddie received thank you notes from Ron and Michelle Bauer and Hope for the Warriors. Freddie received raffle tickets from Fisher House for a quilt. If anyone would like to buy a ticket, contact her. VICE PRESIDENT Bob Haugh called for the following committee reports: SECRETARY S REPORT Tom Murph moved and seconded by Doris Murph that the minutes from the March meeting be accepted as written. TREASURER S REPORT Herbie Smith provided the report. SOCIAL Freddie stated that she still needs someone to serve as social chairperson. She recapped the following: April 24: Sunday ride hosted by Donna and Dan. Donna said that they have 16 Corvettes scheduled to make the trip. Plan to meet at the Lowe s on Wilmington Pike at noon. May 7: Bud s Cruise-In, St. Mary s OH. May 13-15: Trip to Biltmore Estates. May 21: Dinner out at Ann & Tony s Restaurant (Italian) in West Jefferson hosted by Ken and Linda Huff. Reservations are for 4:00 p.m. Ken and Linda will have dessert at their home and if anyone wants to work off calories they live near a park where members can take a stroll. Let Freddie know if you would like to caravan to the restaurant. June 4: Brookville Car Show. June 5: GDCC Corvette Cruise-in in association with Giovanni s. June 24: Drive your Corvette to work day. June 26: Glass City Corvette Club (Toledo) cruise-in.
July 6: Keen Part s Open House and Cruise-In, Cleves OH, 4:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. If you would like to attend, RSVP to info@keensparts.com or call them at 800-757-Keen. They request individual registrations. July 17: Dayton Dragons game and showing of GDCC Corvettes. July 23: Dinner out at Treasure Island hosted by Jay Robinson. Reservations are for 6:00 p.m. August 6: Fort Thomas Corvette cruise-in to benefit Cancer Research. August 13: Progressive dinner. Looking for north Club members to host. Judy and Herb Smith are hosting the appetizer portion. October 15: Glass City invitation. See new business for details. MEMBERSHIP: Freddie reported for Carol Tavener reported that we 105 members. PUBLIC RELATIONS: Bob Sledge had nothing new to report. EDITOR/ WEBMASTER: Mike Jones had nothing new to report NATIONAL CORVETTE MUSEUM (NCM) AMBASSADOR: No report. Old Business Freddie: Reminded members of the June 5 Cruise-in associated with Giovanni s. She has flyers available that members should distribute to various car shows and to provide to those businesses we ask to donate door prizes or items for the Chinese auction. Needs money for the Dragons game not later than April 29. She will send one check to cover the tickets. Asked if anyone has an idea for an outing, let her know. New Business Freddie received an invitation from Sandy Morse, Glass City Corvette Club, to join their club at the Air Force Museum on October 15, have dinner at Treasure Island, and then on October 16 join them for the Color Tour sponsored by the Restoration Station in Springboro. Tom Brooks said that Voss Automotive in Centerville in sponsoring their first cruise-in on June 3 from 5:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. They have approximately 250 spaces for cars. It is an open car show and judging will take place. Ken Huff stated that the new USO is open at Wright-Patterson AFB. They are looking for volunteers to staff the operation. Freddie has received invitations from Centerville Americana Parade (July 4) and Kettering at Home Parade (September 5) points of contact for GDCC to
participate in the parades. She needs 12-15 Corvettes per parade. Let her know if you are interested. Friday night cruise-ins are behind the car dealership (near Lofino s) in Beavercreek off US 35 and near the Sear s Outlet at Woodman and Dorothy Lane. George Frymyer conducted the 50/50 drawing which was won by Ken Huff: $44.00. George motioned the meeting adjourn; seconded by Tom Murph. Meeting adjourned. Respectfully submitted Terri Kopa
