Prayer of the Day L: Almighty Creator and ever-living God: we worship your glory, eternal Three-in-One, and we praise your power, majestic One-in-Three. Keep us steadfast in this faith, defend us in all adversity, and bring us at last into your presence, where you live in endless joy and love, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. C: Amen. Children s Sermon THE WORD Kids Word (11am) - Kids approx. ages 4-8 can go and hear the Word through story, crafts & games. Please meet in back of sanctuary. Children return after sermon. First Reading Isaiah 6:1-8 1In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the LORD sitting on a throne, high and lofty; and the hem of his robe filled the temple. 2 Seraphs were in attendance above him; each had six wings: with two they covered their faces, and with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. 3 And one called to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory." 4The pivots on the thresholds shook at the voices of those who called, and the house filled with smoke. 5 And I said: "Woe is me! I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips; yet my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!" 6Then one of the seraphs flew to me, holding a live coal that had been taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. 7 The seraph touched my mouth with it and said: "Now that this has touched your lips, your guilt has departed and your sin is blotted out." 8 Then I heard the voice of the LORD saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I; send me!" 6

Reader: The Word of the Lord C: Thanks be to God. Second Reading Romans 8:12-17 12So then, brothers and sisters, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh 13 for if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. 15 For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, "Abba! Father!" 16 it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ if, in fact, we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him. Reader: The Word of the Lord C: Thanks be to God. Musical Meditation Canon in D Johann Pachelbel; arr. Weekly & Arganbright 7

(Please stand as you are able for the Gospel Acclamation) Gospel Verse (John 6:68) R: The Holy Gospel according to Matthew, the 28th chapter. C: Glory to you, O Lord Gospel Matthew 28: 16-20 16Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age." Reader: The Gospel of the Lord C: Praise to you, O Christ. Sermon Pastor Bill (Following a pause for reflection, please stand as you are able for the hymn of the day) 8

Hymn of the Day We Believe In this time of desperation, when all we know is doubt and fear. There is only one foundation: we believe, we believe. In this broken generation, when all is dark You help us see. There is only one salvation, we believe, we believe. So, let our faith be more than anthems, greater than the songs we sing. And in our weakness and temptations, we believe, we believe. (Chorus) Let the lost be found and the dead be raised in the here and now let love invade. Let the church live loud; our God will say, we believe, we believe. And the gates of hell will not prevail For the pow r of God has torn the veil. Now we know Your love will never fail. We believe, we believe. (Chorus) Used with permission CCLI License #3045767 9

Apostles Creed I believe in God the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen Prayers of Intercession P: Lord in your mercy, C: hear our prayer. Sharing of the Peace P: The peace of the Lord be with you always. C: And also with you. Community Time During this time we would like to welcome and introduce guests at SLC Offertory My Jesus, I Love Thee arr. Lenny Seidel 10
