Page of 0 0 0 0 ADJOURNED SESSION NOVEMBER, 0 EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING Devotion: Led by Moderator Spencer Roll Call Minutes: The minutes from the Annual Session: July, 0 0 were printed in the November, 0 Communique, including the new elected officers for 0-0. Many officers were absent. Moderator Spencer said that Sis Marie Winfrey let him know that she is preparing to go out of town on job-related duties. Dr. Junior Greenlee was also unable to attend. Dr. Spencer stated that officers should be present at the Board meetings for input and information. Moderator Spencer has a letter to present for Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church seeking membership in WUBDA. A letter will be read at the Parent Body Session. The pastor is Rev. Donald Brownlee. It was stated by Sis. Joanne Elder that the letter needs to be read at the Annual or Adjourned Session or the church needs to wait a year and be admitted at the next Annual/Adjourned Session. Vacant offices need to be dealt with. We need all of our offices filled. The Women s Auxiliary will try to fill offices during the Break-Out Session. Due to some confusion, Dr. Spencer will meet with the Laymen as they fill their vacant offices. The Parent Body needs an assistant Corresponding Secretary. New Mercy Baptist Church has reached out to WUBDA for membership. So far, WUBDA has not received two letters of recommendation. It was said that Unity Baptist Church used to be a part of our organization, but Unity was dissolved and New Mercy Baptist Church organized a new church under a new name. Dr. Joanne Elder has contact information for further investigation. Dr. Huston will see that Rev. Anthony receives the contact information. Moderator Spencer reported that the sitting OBGC President, Rev. Otha Gilyard, was reelected. The OBGC Adjourned Session will be December nd and rd in Gallipolis, Ohio. There was a discussion about some WUBDA member churches not being members of OBGC. How fair is it for members of our organization to vote on matters dealing with OBGC? It was stated that WUBDA has no voice as a collective organization. Delegates from individual churches vote at OBGC. So WUBDA members vote on WUBDA matters whether or not it is an OBGC issue. District associations do not have clout at the State as we used to when we sent Rev. Young s name to be a Vice President of OBGC. Changes need to be made. Congress of Christian Education Dean, Rev. Dr. Ashton Allen stated that the Break-Out Sessions would be continuation of the Annual Session classes with business at the back end. Rev. Dr. Charles Spencer Moderator Sis. Phyllis Stewart Acting Secretary Page Page of 0
Page of 0 0 WUBDA ADJOURNED SESSION NOVEMBER, 0 Roll Call: Minutes: The minutes were read by acting secretary Sis. Phyllis Stewart. There was one correction: Sis. Margaret Johnson moved that we receive the minutes with the necessary correction; Rev. Marcus Brown seconded the motion. The motion carried. The statement Moderator Spencer then declared the rd Annual Session has officially ended should be changed to Moderator Spencer then declared the rd Annual Session adjourned. Unfinished Business: ~Committee on Committee recommendations were dealt with during the Annual Session. ~Vacancies within the various Auxiliaries need to be filled. Those who fill vacant positons can be appointed this year, but must be voted upon next year. Women s Auxiliary named Sis. Kimberly Asomani-Kesse as Corresponding Secretary, Second MBC Hamilton. Other positions that need to be filled in the Women s Auxiliary are Recording Secretary, Hattie Jackson Guild Supervisor and Assistant Children s Band Supervisor. Ministers and Deacons Institute named Pastor Kristopher Peterson as Recording Secretary. Laymen vacant offices are tabled until Moderator Spencer meets with the Laymen. ~Emphasis on the Theme (Let Us Rise Up and Build) for 0 is Service, based on the Scripture Mark :. Moderator Dr. Spencer stated WUBDA needs to rise up and work. ~Several churches desire to become members of WUBDA. Page 0 Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Donald Brownlee, seeks membership in WUBDA. Nancy Peebles-Moore. The motion carried. It was stated that to be a voting member a church must pay registration. New Mercy Baptist Church, Pastor L. Izaak Ingram, seeks membership in WUBDA. Pastor Leroy Anthony will make contact with New Mercy Baptist Church about becoming a member. Sis. Joanne Elder stated that WUBDA received a registration check from New Mercy Baptist Church. Their name is printed on the WUBDA church registration roster. The response was we need to put an asterisk by the name and indicate that we have a correction to deal with. Page of 0
Page of 0 0 0 ~Sis. Jessica Jones made a plea for Youth Advisors. Every WUBDA church is asked to submit to her names of adult workers who typically work with youth. These representative youth workers are asked to attend an Advisors Meeting at the next Quarterly Session in February. Also, the Youth President from Dayton needs a ride to the various meetings. ~Announcements: A plea for Disaster Relief to aid and assist the people affected by the recent catastrophes in South Carolina and the Bahamas was in a recent letter received from National Baptist Convention President Rev. Jerry Young. He asked for 000 churches to send $00 which would equal a million dollars in aid. Churches should send what you can.
