Questionnaire for Sabbatarians by William H. Hohmann Answer the questions in writing, then compare your answers to the answers given at the end of the questions. 1. Does any man or church have the right to alter Scripture and its application in any way? 2. Can you be held to the conditions of a covenant (contract) you were never a party to? 3. That covenant law had a provision that allowed those not originally a party to that covenant to enter into that covenant through circumcision. Were gentile Christians required to be circumcised? 4. What did the apostle Paul declare was the righteousness derived through the law? 5. Are Christians dead to the law? 6. Are Christians under the law; obligated to keep the law? 7. Does being under the law mean being under the condemnation of the law? 8. Are Christians freed from sin; dead to sin? 9. In John chapter 6, people in a crowd asked Jesus the following question: "What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?" What was Jesus' reply? 10. According to John 1:17, who gave the Law to Israel? 11. According to Jesus Christ in John 7:19, who gave the Law to Israel? 12. Why does the Comforter reprove the world of sin?

13. If one traveled east from Israel, paying attention to sunsets in order to determine when the sabbath begins, when would it begin for one who continued to America? 14. Does God justify the ungodly? 15. Are Christians now saved ( i.e. have eternal life now)? 16. Did Jesus come to take sin away from the world? 17. A man came to Jesus and asked him, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? What was Jesus answer? 18. What did the apostle Paul call the ministration of condemnation and the ministration of death? 19. Who can the devil deceive? 20. Did Jesus uphold the law in all situations and circumstances? 21. What is the righteousness derived from keeping the law? 22. Is God now calling only a few out of the world?

Answers: The vast majority of Sabbatarians avoid writing down their answers to the questions above, as they have been psychologically conditioned to avoid any chance of being proven wrong in regards to their belief system. They will look at the questions, then drop down to the answers found here. If you want to be truthful and honest with yourself, you will go back up to the questions and answer them first. To drop down and look at the answers before writing down your answers is to deceive yourself, as you have been conditioned to do. 1. Deuteronomy 4:2: Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. Deuteronomy 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it. Sabbatarians routinely alter the law. The tithe, according to the law, was a tenth of the increase of produce and/or livestock. No one was ever commanded to tithe of their wages. The tithe was used in specific ways, such as some being given to the poor, widows and orphans, as well as Levites. Tithing as practiced by Sabbatarians is a complete departure from the law claimed to be unalterable down to jots and tittles. Sabbatarians also have altered the law in regards to the Sabbath command. The commandment required the people to rest and remain at home on Sabbaths. Sabbatarians routinely break the sabbath by attending worship services on that day. Exodus 16:29 See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. Sabbatarians are quick to claim the Catholic church changed times and laws in relation to the Sabbath law, yet excuse themselves for their own alterations of laws. 2. Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto. Galatians 3:15 Yet Sabbatarians conclude they are required to comply with the conditions of the old covenant ten commandments, adding themselves to that covenant, long after that covenant was confirmed.

3. But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses. And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter. And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they. Acts 15:5-11 4. Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,... Philippians 3:6-8 5. Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. Romans 7:4-6 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. Galatians 2:19 6. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. Romans 6:14 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. Galatians 3:23-25 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Galatians 5:18 7. But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. Galatians 4:4-5 If being under the law means under the condemnation of the law, then Jesus was under condemnation. 8. Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Romans 6:6-7

God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Romans 6:2 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:11 1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. Yet Sabbatarianism is all about keeping that law, and avoiding sinning against that law. Could it be their focus is misplaced? 9. Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. (John 6:28-9) 10. John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses,... 11. Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? 12. John 16:8-9 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; 13. Thursday at sunset. Friday would be the daylight time of the Sabbath. 14. Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 15. 1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 2 Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. John 6:54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. Acts 11:18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Hebrews 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. 1 John 2:25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. 1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 1 John 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 1 John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 16. John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. 17. Luke 10:25-28 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all

thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. 18. The old covenant ten commandments: 2 Corinthians 3:6-9 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. What was written and engraven in stones? The ten commandments. 19. Anyone he wants. 2 Timothy 2:25-6 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. 20. No. He did not uphold the requirement of the law when it came to the command to stone those found committing adultery, when a woman was brought before him and he was asked whether he concurred with the law. Also, he did not uphold the law regarding divorce as allowed in the law. 21. Philippians 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: This is self righteousness. 22. No. Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
