Transcription:

Collect Almighty God, you call your Church to witness that in Christ we are reconciled to you. Help us so to proclaim the good news of your love, that all who hear it may turn to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. AMEN. Prayer over the Gifts Holy God, accept all we offer you this day. May we who are reconciled at this table bring wholeness to our broken world. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. Parish Prayer Group As you know, prayer is fundamental to the Christian life. Through prayer we maintain and deepen a relationship with God which has been established by Jesus Christ. This Communion with God leads us to a loving relationship with our neighbors. As such, Reverend Amanda is hoping to establish a Parish prayer group where we will gather weekly to pray for the needs of our Church, the world and one another. We will also prayerfully reflect on Scripture. If you would like to deepen your prayer life by becoming part of this group, please speak to Reverend Amanda. We are hoping to begin in October. The Parenting Course; Surviving Your Kids! Valerie and Father Gerald Westcott will be offering the Parenting Course (for parents of children 12 and under) at All Hallows School, North River, beginning on Thursday, October 10. It is a 5 week course covering the areas: 1. Understanding how families work. 2. What do our children need. 3. Building character through setting boundaries. 4. Helping our children make good decisions. 5. Passing on our beliefs and values. If you or anyone you know is interested in this course, e-mail fathergerald@anglicanresurrection.com, register on line at www.anglicanresurrection.com or leave a phone message at 786-7808. Valerie is a Community Health Nurse in Bay Roberts, and Gerald is a Parish Priest in South River. They are parents to Matthew (24), Victoria (22) and Andrew (20). This study traces Christ s steps through Christ stories as seen through the eyes of the Gospel writers. There we see an amazing picture of Jesus. He is Lord a Lord who commands the universe; and yet, a Lord who chooses also to be our servant. Come along as we discuss with one another how Jesus can be both Lord and Servant in our lives. We will meet on Wednesday s at 10:30 am beginning September 18. Hope to see you there! The next Contemporary Eucharist will take place at St. Matthew s, 11 am next Sunday. Don t forget to invite someone! The Anglican Church, in recent times, has begun an initiative called Back to Church Sunday. This is a time for us to extend an invitation to a family member or friend to join us for worship. You don t need to worry whether or not they show just extend the invitation! Next Sunday, September 22 nd, we will be celebrating Back to Church Sunday. Maybe you know of someone who has been away from church for a while this is a good time to invite them back. Maybe you know of someone who hasn t been part of church, and are looking for more meaning and purpose for their life this is a good time to invite them to begin. You are invited, welcomed and encouraged to join us at St. Matthew s at 11 am or St. John the Evangelist at 7 pm. Hope to see you there! St. Matthew`s Congregation is asked to note that there is a very important letter being distributed through the zone captains. Almighty God, the giver of all good gifts: Grant thy blessing, we humbly beseech thee, to the clergy and laity about to assemble for the election of a Bishop; and give them the spirit of wisdom and understanding, that a chief Pastor may be chosen who shall minister before thee to the glory of thy Name, the good government of the flock committed to his charge, and the welfare of thy holy Church; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
