But, if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it. Someone said to me once, Nothing goes very well when we re not in church. I think all one has to do is read the above verse of scripture to know why. Reading Isaiah 54: 1-3, Israel in captivity was addressed as barren because in the time of her suffering, her numbers diminished rather than increased. Anytime we go away from God we will diminish. But Israel was told to sing because of the prospect that was becoming available to her. She was going to increase as never before. Since 1948, 5 million plus Jews have returned to Israel; over 610,000 since 1989. There is something available to us now! To those who ve drawn cold; to the backslider; to the church; to those who are obedient! Enlarge the place of thy tent spare not, lengthen thy cords, strengthen thy stakes; for thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left! Thank God we have faithful support in our church! Those with vision! Those ready to lengthen the cords; those who strengthen the church! The prayer of the faithful is, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth as it is in Heaven. Page 2 Page 2 SUNDAY SCHOOL REMINDERS Sunday School for YOU - One thing we LOVE about Sunday School is the fellowship & comradery that develops between classmates & teachers. If you haven t plugged yourself into a class yet we encourage you to do so! Come be a part of something that will feed your soul! We have classes for all ages with dedicated teachers that would love to have you. Sunday school begins with in the sanctuary at 9:45am, We have prayer, kids sing the whole world, and then we dismiss to our individual classes. UPCOMING EVENT Bring Someone to Sunday School Day Sun. The bus is FULL & We NEED VOLUNTEERS to pick up adults/children in their own personal vehicle due to an abundance of riders that we are not able to accommodate. If you are willing please sign up with Wayne! We will see how high our numbers go and if they stay up the church will look into purchasing another bus! However; at this time the church does need a VAN, please be in prayer about this! We also will be needing other CDL drivers for the bus & volunteers to take turns riding the bus as a monitor. if you have an interest in being part of the vital bus ministry notify Wayne Bowles. WED. NIGHT ADULT BIBLE STUDY has been reviewing what is missing from different translations and versions of the Bible. Pastor has been teaching out of a book called Look What s Missing? Page 3 EVANGELISM PAST NEWS OUTREACH DELIVERIES - The team is blessed with many different opportunities to reach out to those in need. We prepare & deliver dinners each week. During these deliveries we have prayer & fellowship with the recipients. God is using these times to show Himself to these wonderful people who all have different and unique needs. We ask you join with us in making this ministry a part of your daily prayer life. UPCOMING EVENTS Page 3 Billie & Mitch Bourbon Directors Outreach to Community Workers Day! - To show workers within our community the love of Jesus we will perform an Act of Kindness by serving them a complementary dinner! We are making 1,000 DINNERS! & WE NEED YOU TO HELP! FIRST: Thurs. March 9 we will be preparing the dinners here @ the church. WE NEED HELP PRE- PARING & PACKING FOOD! THEN: Fri. March 10 we will go out & deliver them. If you are interested in helping, let Sis. Billie know. WE NEED HELP DELIVERING those 1,000 MEALS to hospital, law enforcement agencies, ambulance shed, fire dept., nursing homes, and many more places within the community. THE GIVING TABLE - Please take time to stop by the Giving Table located in front of bookstore. Here you will find current requests for things we are collecting for various needs. In Memory & Honor of our former Pastor & First Lady The legacy these two have left us is one of remarkable accomplishment to say the least. Their unwavering faith and tireless dedication to their Savior and their church, is an example as rare as rubies these days. They took great joy in the many sacrifices they made to further the kingdom of God, and they always kept the Lords work as their #1 priority above all other things. May we often recall the Godly lives these two lived, the examples they firmly set before us, and the great love they had for the Lord. May we each strive to follow in the path of their great Legacy. Stephen & Kendra Owens dedicated their son Matthias Dwayne Owens to the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 12th 2017! REMINDER: We hold a prayer service every Thurs. at 6:00pm. CHILDREN Jeff & Tammy Reed Next Generation CHILDREN s & YOUTH PAST News Page 7 TEENS Sheldon & Bobbie VALENTINE PARTY - The CHILDREN had a fun time eating pizza & treats, playing games, & more! We thank the church for voting for the Queen & King candidates. We had 3 age groups, and two ways for each age group to win. One group won most $ votes, & the other group had their names drawn. Over $200 was raised; this more than paid for our party! WINTERFEST 2017 - The Youth attended Winterfest 2017 in Branson, MO last month. It was a great time full of fun and blessings. The kids reported Loving the services, and enjoying the time they had to goof off together too! Hopewell was blessed to share a cabin with the Youth of Covenant Grace COG this year! The two different youth groups got along great, and new friendships were formed along the way. Thank you to all the adults who helped make the trip successful too!
