I pray that the Lord will lead you to make a commitment to become involved with a church. If the Lord leads you to join our church, praise the Lord for your commitment. As a pastor, I am involved in our children and youth programs, Sunday School, Preschool, and other activities. You and your family are important to me. Please contact me if I can answer any of your questions. Pastor Rachela Fazio If the Lord leads you to serve and worship Him at Tahoe Community Church, I look forward to serving the Master with you. Pastor Sam Worley

Who Are We? Tahoe Community Church is absolutely autonomous. That is, the people of Tahoe Community Church make all their own decisions in regards to all church beliefs and actions. Jesus Christ is the Head of the church. We are guided by a board of Elders who seek for this church the perfect will of God. Tahoe Community Church affiliates with the Southern Baptist Convention on a national denominational level and the California Southern Baptist Convention on a state level. Through these affiliations come the strength of other churches, a channel for mission giving, literature, tax exemption, and a wealth of resources for spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. We Believe... The Bible is the inspired Word of God. There is only one true God, revealed through the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God as Father is all-knowing, all-powerful and all-loving. God as Son was revealed through Jesus Christ, who died for our sins, was raised from the dead and sits at the right hand of God. God as Holy Spirit convicts man of sin and empowers Christians in worship and service. Salvation comes freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior by faith. Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly to earth to judge the world. For a complete statement of beliefs, please ask for the pamphlet Baptist Faith and Message Each week we come to together as a body to worship God as one. Our worship services are designed to incorporate several elements, the primary being the preaching of the Word of God. Pastor Sam Worley is our primary preaching pastor. At times our other pastors, elders, or guest pastors will share God s Word with us. Our pastors teaching text is the Bible and they will usually use an expository style of teaching, meaning that they will begin in a particular book of the Bible and teach straight through it. Other times the topical approach is taken where various references are taken throughout the Bible on a specific topic. Another aspect of the worship service is music, where we take a blended approach, combining traditional hymns with contemporary choruses. Our primary worship team leader is Pastor Paul Tracy. We encourage you to share your musical gifts with the church by communicating with him. This means if you like to sing or play an instrument, we encourage you to serve in this way. We also have an opportunity to give offerings to the Lord. Services may include Body Life, where we share what God is doing in our church body, a prayer time when you can share prayer concerns with others, baby/child dedication, dramatic sketches, special music, Worship is the corporate expression of the supremacy of God over all things. It is a time to drink deeply at the fountain of His delights, to revel in His free and glorious grace, to rest in His absolute sovereignty, and allow our joy in Him to overflow in praise, adoration and worship. Our passion is to exalt God, displaying and proclaiming the truth of His Word, through Christ-centered worship, grace empowered praise, and Spirit-led enjoyment in song. testimonies, Lord s Supper, and invitation. You are invited to worship the Lord in any way you feel comfortable including singing, clapping, and raising your hands. However, please do not interfere with the worship experience of others around you. We have a nursery for babies and toddler children during the morning worship service. Older children are dismissed during the service for Children s Church. Sundays we have an evening fellowship and study for those whose work schedules make it difficult to attend morning services. Before Jesus went to the cross He shared a final Passover meal with His disciples. Each month we observe the Lord s Supper (or Communion) and remember the sacrifice of His Body and Blood as we share bread and wine (grape juice) together. Usually this is the last Sunday of the month, but at Christmas and Easter we observe the Lord s Supper on Christmas Eve and Good Friday. We have open communion meaning that all believers in Jesus Christ, whether a member of TCC or not, are invited to participate.

Goals To lead children to an understanding that Jesus Christ is God. To lead children into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. To develop in children a hunger to know God s Word and apply it to their lives. To develop/deepen the child s relationship with Christ so that he/she is aware of God s provision and presence. To have opportunities for the children to make lasting friendships with others. To acquaint children with four disciplines: study, prayer, service and worship. To provide opportunity and encourage children to memorize verses/sections from the Bible. To teach children about missions and introduce them to the need and role missionaries have throughout the world. Programs Sunday School classes are offered at 9:00am for ages birth through 12th grade; includes Bible study, prayer, Bible memory and crafts. Nursery Care for ages 0-5 is offered during the 10:45 service. Children s Worship Children are dismissed during worship for their own time of worship at their level. Awesome Kids are 1st-6th graders and meet weekly after school for singing, Bible study, prayer, mission study, discipleship and crafts led by well-trained lay leaders. Children s Camp and Vacation Bible School - see below. Good Friday Church School Religious education is provided for children of all ages all day on Good Friday, culminating in a Family Worship Service in the evening. Good Friday Worship Services One is designed especially for families with children. The other is a more reverent service. The Lord s Supper is served at both services. Vacation Bible School Children love Vacation Bible School. Each year God s salvation message is shared during a weeklong morning program through different themes. Past VBS themes include Good News Stampede, Seaside with the Savior, and Passport to the Holy Land. National Day of Prayer The first Thursday of May we pray for our nation in front of the county building. Centrifuge Youth Camp Youth completing 7 th -12 th grade have a radical week of summer at Jenness Park meeting new friends and growing in their faith. Children s Camp Kids completing 3 rd -6 th grade also get to spend a week at Jenness Park learning about their Lord. Baptism At TCC we baptize in the summer in beautiful Lake Tahoe. It s a celebration as well as a witness to others at the beach. Baptism is usually followed by an all-church picnic on the beach. Annual Church Meeting We meet in November to look back at the past year and forward to the new church year. Members and friends of TCC are invited to come and see how the Lord is working here in Lake Tahoe. Christmas at TCC We prepare for the coming of the Savior s birth through advent services leading up to Christmas. At our Little Drummer Service in December, everyone is encouraged to beat your drum for baby Jesus (or sing a song, read a scripture, etc.) On Christmas Eve we come reverently to worship by candlelight and share the Lord s Supper in anticipation of His second coming.

Membership Information Membership at Tahoe Community Church is based on the loving acceptance of the church members. By this acceptance, the church voices its willingness to love, care for, teach and fellowship with the new member. The new member agrees to do likewise. Invitation Many worship services conclude with an invitation by the pastor on behalf of the Church for people to respond to God by: 1. Accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. 2. Professing that they have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. 3. Responding to the Lord by following Him in the obedience of Baptism. 4. Requesting Church Membership. All invitations are offered publicly before the church for two reasons: 1. Matthew 10:32 Everyone therefore who shall confess me before men, I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. 2. The pastors represent the church, and people are invited before the church to confess Christ, request baptism, and request membership. There is responsibility that comes with membership 1. Regular worship attendance 2. Regular giving in tithes and offerings 3. Service to the Lord through the church ministries 4. Support of ministries through prayer 5. Attendance at Church Meetings 6. Loyalty in unity Also, voting members have the privilege of voting on the addition and removal of pastoral staff and the acquisition and disposal of real property. Voting members must be resident members age 18 or older with regular worship attendance. Prerequisites for membership 1. To have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. 2. To have followed Jesus Christ in the obedience of Christian baptism. Membership by Baptism Membership by baptism is offered to those who have accepted Christ, but have not yet been baptized as a believer. Baptism is primarily an act of obedience by a believer in Jesus Christ. TCC practices baptism by immersion. The church believes the attitude of the heart is more important than the method of baptism. People of the age of accountability are baptized, that is, of the age to make their own profession in Jesus Christ and follow Him in obedience of baptism. The church, for this reason, does not practice infant baptism, but believes children are under the loving grace of God until they reach the age and maturity to make their own decision. Infants are, however, dedicated to the Lord with parents promising to teach them Christian principles. Membership by Transfer of Church Letter Tahoe Community Church accepts people into its membership by transfer of church letter. This simply means a person coming from another church has been provided a letter from the church stating that he has previously accepted Jesus Christ as His personal Lord and Savior and has followed Him in the obedience of Christian Baptism. Membership by Statement The church also accepts people into membership by Statement. When a person states that he has fulfilled the prerequisite for membership at a previous church, but does not have a letter from that church, he has membership by Statement.

Membership Continued... Removal of Membership Under certain conditions, a person may be removed from the membership rolls of Tahoe Community Church. These include: 1. Death 2. Request of member to transfer membership to another church 3. Inactivity - those who do not attend worship or Bible study for one year will be removed for inactivity. 4. Relocation - a person may request to be put on the Non- Resident membership roll, in which case he/she would continue to receive limited correspondence, but would not be active for the purpose of voting. 5. Pastor/Elder discretion - if there is a question as to the sincerity of a person s commitment to Christ or the church body, a person s membership may be removed. Giving/Stewardship through the Church Stewardship is taking care of the things God has given us; using our resources for His glory and purposes. We encourage following the Old Testament example of tithing giving a tenth of one s increase to the Lord through the church. We have many opportunities to give beyond the tithe through missions, fundraisers, designated needs. We also encourage giving through time and talents and using one s spiritual gifts and skills in the church. The IRS also has guidelines on giving. We keep confidential records of your gifts and summarize them for you quarterly for your use in filing your federal taxes. There are certain requirements for gifts to qualify for a tax deduction. Additional information is available through the church office. Church Information Guide Missions at TCC Tahoe Community Church began as a mission, and we continue to put importance in the area of missions. Missions is what churches do in keeping with the commission of Christ to extend their witness and ministry beyond themselves to bring all persons to Christ and to glorify God. Listed below are a few of the ways we participate in missions on a local, state, national, and world level. Week of Prayer for International Missions and Lottie Moon Christmas Offering The first week of December is set aside for concerted prayer for international missions. The offering, taken to support international missions, is named for the missionary who first suggested taking the offering at Christmastime. Week of Prayer for North American Missions and Annie Armstrong Easter Offering The first week of March is set aside for concerted prayer for North American missions (United States, Canada, Mexico). The offering, taken to support North American missions, is named for the first corresponding secretary for the Women s Missionary Union (WMU). Season of Prayer for State Missions and California State Missions Offering Each September an emphasis is made to support mission efforts within our state convention through prayers and offerings. Cooperative Program The Cooperative Program is a way to support missions in all of the above categories through one channel. Cooperative gifts are distributed to state, North American, and international missions as well as seminaries and other programs. Our church contributes a designated percent of offerings each month to the Cooperative Program. Cooperative Baptist Fellowship The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship is another mission endeavor to spread the good news of Jesus around the globe. CBF is known for the creative ways and remote areas it takes the gospel. Our church contributes a designated percent of offerings each month to the CBF. Forgotten Missionaries International International indigenous pastors and their families are supported through FMI by gifts from our church. Pastor Nugraha is a native Indonesian ministering to the people in his home country. Local Missions Throughout the year we are made aware of needs in our community and our world and prayerfully consider each one. We have an ongoing Food Pantry and Benevolence program to care for the needs of the poor and hungry throughout the year. We have also helped with winter coat drives, gifts for convalescents, and local missionaries on short-term mission trips to Central America and other places as well as many other ministry opportunities that arise throughout the year.

Tahoe Douglas Christian Preschool Tahoe Douglas Christian Preschool provides Christian education and early childhood education in a Christian environment. The preschool operates Monday through Friday. Classes are available for 2 year olds 9:30am -12:30pm; 3 to 5 year olds 7:30am-5:30pm, full or half days.
