Message from the Chairman And hold fast, all of you together, to the rope of Allah, and be not divided amongst yourselves [Al-Imran 3:103] Assalaamu Alaykum Warahmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh Southampton Mosque Trust aims to promote a true message of Islam and unite all Muslims in Southampton, as well as build sound relations with all communities. We are embarking on various new projects to benefit the local community and would kindly request that you read through this brochure For our vision to be possible we need your duas, help and support. Please make generous donations to serve the Deen of Allah. May Allah reward you Sharifullah Ahmed Trust Chairman

Our Objective Southampton Mosque Trust (Abu Bakr Masjid) has been serving the Muslim community of Southampton for past 50 years. The Trust purchased the Argyle Centre to convert to the Mosque and a Community Centre. Argyle Centre is a large 3 story building built over 100 years ago. This was once a girls grammar school is now the largest Masjid in the south of England. Accommodating over 1000 worshippers at any time. The Masjid offers a multitude of services such as: Facilities for the Five Daily Prayers Ladies Prayer Hall with Activity Centre. Daily and weekend Madrasah. Over 300 children Community Hall and Kitchen. Social Activities Martial Arts and Sports Classes, Charity and Fundraising events, Centre for Interfaith and Community activities. This is a very old building and needs extensive refurbishment and renovate it so that it continues to be a strong focal point for future generations. The Masjid is undergoing the following major renovations and refurbishment: 1) Mortuary and Funeral Services (adding new service) 2) Masjid Entrance & Corridor Expansion 3) Replacing Old Windows 4) Ladies Hall Refurbishment 5) Under floor Heating and Levelling the Masjid Floor 6) Drainage and Roofing

1) Mortuary and Funeral Services We are currently undertaking a large project to incorporate a mortuary and body wash facility in our Masjid. (Work Underway) The project is expected to cost in the region of 80,000 to complete. We aim to complete this project by Ramadan 2018. The end result to look similar to:

2) Masjid Entrance & Corridor Expansion Those who regularly attend our Masjid, especially on Jummah, will know the difficulties we are faced with when the Friday prayer finishes and the corridor leading to the Masjid gets very full and leaving the Masjid takes a long time. We are aiming to double the width of this corridor to ensure our attendees have easy and quick access in and out of the Masjid and this will further improve our ability to ensure a safe and accessible route to the Masjid for the disabled and elderly. This cost of this project is around 35,000. Upgrading the Masjid Entrance to be more welcoming

3) Replacing Old Windows The Masjid currently has single glazed windows, many of which are broken. In order to reduce monthly running expenses of the Masjid and improve efficiency, we intend to upgrade all the windows to Double Glazing. We intend to change all of our windows to double glazed windows so that we can keep the heat in the Masjid and increase security within the Masjid. This project will cost upwards of 40,000.

4) Ladies Hall Refurbishment The ladies hall is need of urgent refurbishment. In this refurbishment, we want to change the carpets, give the hall a deep clean and also re-paint and re-decorate the hall. This includes new lighting, shelving, books, and other such facilities that our sisters very much deserve. This is expected to cost approximately 10,000. We believe our sisters deserve and need a place that they feel comfortable in.

5) Under-floor Heating and Levelling the Masjid Floor As you may be aware, the floor in the Masjid is currently on two levels which is an inconvenience during prayers. As well as levelling the Masjid floor, we intend to install underfloor heating in the Masjid, so that we can have a reliable heating source. 6) Drainage and Roofing There are many leaks and problems with our current piping and drainage system, therefore we are planning to clean and/or replace all of the drainage and piping across the Masjid. This will help prevent water leaks and clogged drainage from occurring. Coupled with the drainage improvements we plan to have the roofing in some areas of the Masjid re-done to help maintain the Masjid. This will cost approximately 10,000.
