THE BREAD BASKET Morsels from Bread of Life Lutheran Church August 2017 Bread of Life Lutheran Church 7510 36 th Avenue Hudsonville, MI 49426 (616)797-9930 Pastor Paul Krupinski Cell (616)635-0058 Email: bollc@breadoflifelc.org Web: www.breadoflifelc.org Search for us on Facebook www.facebook.com/ Breadoflife Sunday Worship Schedule with Holy Communion We invite you to worship, grow & serve with us! When we gathered for worship last Sunday (July 23rd), the furnace and air conditioning unit did not function. Subsequent calls to an electrician and then a heating/cooling company that has been servicing our unit have delivered untimely and hard news: 1) One of the compressors of the unit basically melted down and has leaked acid into the entire system; 2) to replace the compressor and try to drain the acid from the system looks like an approximate $12,000 project; 3) the drawback to the above fix is that some acid would undoubtedly remain in the system (it is almost impossible to completely drain) and a compressor would melt down again; 4) the best solution would be to replace the entire unit...as I write this I am awaiting an estimate as to the cost of a new heating/air conditioning unit, which would be a very expensive proposition. The unit is fourteen years old with the expectant life of such a unit being between twelve and fifteen years. Another factor as to why we ve had trouble with this unit over the last few years is that it is too large a capacity for the space we are heating and cooling. Three different HVAC contractors have confirmed it being too large. What this did was instead of a unit coming on and then running smoothly for a length of time before shutting down, this unit would come on like gangbusters, stop and then repeat the process over and over instead of running for a length of time, thus putting an inordinate amount of stress on the unit leading to it s breakdown. This will be a major task for us at Bread of Life. Let us pray that we will be up to the challenge. Things to remember about our 25 th Anniversary celebration this September. Looking for remember when recollections; addresses of old (not in years) members and donations for the celebration. Pastors Joan Oleson and Rob Dorow have been invited back to preach on September Sundays and the council is in the process of planning a congregational dinner. Watch for all the great details! Well, enough is enough...time to close...remember Bread of Life in your prayers, the grace of God that sustains us each day and being present for worship on Sunday mornings. Take care and may God continue to bless you and all of your loved ones...love ya! Pastor Paul
