Faithful Navigator s report In April we lost one of our dear Brothers, SK Paul Hoke. Our Color Corps participated in his rosary and funeral (see p. 8). A Resolution of Condolence on behalf of the entire Assembly was presented to Lady Claudia Hoke at the rosary. Our Brother will be missed by his many friends at the MTA and Council 12300. Please keep SK Paul Hoke and his family in your prayers, as well as all of our Brother Sir Knights and their families who are ill or in mourning. On a happy note, our Ladies Night Appreciation Dinner, 2017 took place on April 22. Our Ladies are precious and essential to us in just about all that we do. It is important that we thank and honor them at every gathering, each and every year. (See pages 9-10). A major event in May involves the election of the new officers for the fraternal year 2017-2018. The suggested slate of officers is published on page 11 of this newsletter. Brothers, this is your assembly. Please participate in the process of running it and help us make it the best that it can be! Another key event in May will be our Flag Retirement Ceremony on May 21 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Join us in honoring the flag of our beloved country and the principles for which it stands for! My best and God bless! Vivat Jesus and Viva Cristo Rey! Robert SK Robert Font, Faithful Navigator MTA 2506 Newsletter May, 2017 3
Comptroller s Report and May Thoughts SK Chester Salacinski, Faithful Comptroller Membership has increased to 201 members. The Assembly has a new transfer, SK Joseph Olickan from Council 10646. There are still 10 members who have not paid their dues for this year. Suspension notices will be sent next month. At our general meeting in May we will be electing a new slate of officers for the next fraternal year and presenting the Assembly s proposed budget. Please make plans to attend this important meeting. Finally: Service is the stairway by which we mount to the throne of God. Author Unknown Report: Sometimes we find ourselves at a loss for time because of poor planning or unplanned crisis. Part of the problem is that time passes so quickly that we never realize where we stand in relation to it. Last month we lost a brother Knight who left us at a relatively young age. We meet many milestones through our lives and we all have a few more in our futures. Are you ready for that last and final milestone? Don t forget, we don t know where we stand in relation to time. The highest reward for a man s toil is not what they get for it, but what they become by it. - John Ruskin May Thoughts: MTA 2506 Newsletter May, 2017 4

Below is a link to the essays. I hope you take the time to look over this important part of our history. Admiral s table Sir Knights, We had a very nice evening during the Ladies Appreciation dinner. I know all the ladies present enjoyed themselves. During the last month I had the opportunity to visit The Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini Shrine in Golden Colorado. In a desert with dried faith and blooming relativism, finding this shrine is like finding an oasis with refreshing waters. Under the Sacred Heart of Jesus statue on the right is the shrine with some artifacts of Mother Cabrini. It is said that Mother herself build a heart with stones, now covered with glass at the bottom of the picture. Another reason I was glad to find this oasis is the fact that our order is a major contributor and sponsor of the shrine. The plaque below the Virgin s statue in the photo is in gratitude by the Sisters of the Sacred Heart, to the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus district of Colorado. I ask you brothers to pray for our order and its brother Sir Knights in need of healing. SK Jorge Gonzalez, PGK, PFN; Faithful Admiral MTA 2506 Newsletter May, 2017 6

Historical patriot of the month George Rogers Clark (1752-1818) George Rogers Clark was a soldier, militia officer and surveyor from Virginia. During the American Revolutionary War, he became the highest ranking military officer on the northwestern frontier. He served as leader of the militia in Kentucky, which was then part of Virginia. Clark is best known for his celebrated captures of the cities of Kaskaskia in 1778 and Vincennes in 1779. These actions greatly weakened British influence in the Northwest Territory. Subsequently, the British ceded the entire Northwest Territory to the United States in the 1783 Treaty of Paris. Because of it, Clark has been referred to as the "Conqueror of the Old Northwest". Clark also led militia in the opening engagements of the Northwest Indian War, but resigned after being accused of being drunk on duty. Clark spent his final years living in increasing poverty and obscurity. He was part of two failed attempts to open the Spanish-controlled Mississippi River to American traffic. He eventually became an invalid and passed in 1818. His younger brother, William, was one of the leaders of famous Lewis and Clark Expedition. MTA 2506 Newsletter May, 2017 15
Parting thoughts of the month We are fortunate to enjoy much peace and prosperity in our great country. Believe me Brothers, it can be much different in other parts of the world. I can t help but to often think about our Christian brothers and sisters that face persecution, or worse, in others areas of the planet. Against terrible odds they manage to keep their faith and courage. Consider how lucky we are in comparison. What is our duty to them? In addition to prayers and financial aid, what else could we do for them? If we do not help them out, who will? Is the global Christian community united in our quest to defend our faith? We better be, or we will pay the price. All of us need to think hard about these issues. As with many of you, I have faced periods of great stress in my life. I remember one, in particular, that was very intense. I can tell you that at the point where the pressure seem totally overwhelming, God came to my rescue and gave me a feeling of peace that I will never forget and would love to be able to replicate at will. My point to you, Brothers, is that we can always find solace and refuge in God, even when the situation gets really rough. When things get real tough for us, think of what our Lord Jesus went through and for whom he endured it. There is no suffering that we can experience that our Lord did not face Himself. Thus, let us always place our trust in God and do what we must to strengthen our faith. Reading and studying His words are an essential part of a good start. Let us give thanks not only for what we have, but for the trials and tribulations that we don t have to face. We should never stop counting our blessings and giving a helping hand to those in need. Let us endeavor to please God and make him smile. God bless! SK Robert Font MTA 2506 Newsletter May, 2017 16
