THE.ROB.BLOG To Jonesy: For helping new non-female teller (an oddity at the time) at Merchants National Bank recover his lost money everyday. I noticed your energy, that everybody liked you, and your bouncy hair. I noticed you. (And on a similar note thanks for handling our checkbook.) For trusting this Baptist (cult?) guy enough to attend church with him. And for coming back with me a second time even after my pastor made disparaging remarks about the Catholic church of which you were still a part. What was it he said that night? Ah, yes the Catholic church was mentioned not in name but by description - in Revelation. I ll just stop there. By the way, that was the first time I noticed how cute you are when you re mad. Ok honestly, I just thought you were cute period. For going to the James Robison crusade in Mobile that night and, afterwards, as we sat in my car in front of your house, allowing me the great privilege of leading you to Christ. You then shamed me by the number of Bible studies you devoured. You had an insatiable appetite for God s Word. You chose great men to be your pastors Jerry Vines and Fred Wolfe. Even today, you make it THE priority to have a quiet time. You go to bed listening to studies, sermons, and devotionals. For marrying me. You had other suitors most of whom were more financially secure. But you chose me. Remarkable. It s 35 years and counting. Following me as I served God. You moved from the security of family to the insecurity of an apartment in a rowdy town. You gave up an imminent promotion to vice-president that you had worked hard to gain to move to another church in another state. You have persevered in the life of a pastor s wife and weathered learning unwritten rules for your behavior and seeing the worst side of Christian people. And you followed again. For the way you mothered our boys. They should never, ever have any doubt that they have experienced unconditional, sacrificial love from you. I have seen you work overtime to provide money for their wants as well as needs. You have sold jewelry (unbeknownst to them) that was precious to you so that they could have special experiences. You never missed an athletic event and were the mom most involved in the games. (i.e. energetic vocal support). Their bottoms were cleaned when they were babies and hearts mended when they were older. You lived for them without reservation. They grew to be loving men because they had a loving mother. You showed them a picture of how you love by caring for another little boy who, tho not ours by birth, had your complete devotion, protection, and passion. If they ever wanted to know what your love for them looked like, they looked there. For standing with me in ministry. Your gift of hospitality (run amok) balances my well not having it. People may listen to me but they LOVE you. Your openness attracts folks and you make everyone feel the same. Jonesy makes it a better party and a better church. My work for the Lord would not have been as profitable for the Kingdom had He not given me you. I have no doubt about that and neither should you. For our future together. It will be extraordinary. It can t help but be. And finally (for now) For being born. Next week, we will celebrate our twins 30 th birthday and your next birthday. I can t wait to have the family together. We are going to Top of the Rock, I think, and no expense will be spared. (Translation: Order an appetizer that s all. $$$$$) Someone once said and I paraphrase that it s not the number of years in a life but the LIFE in those years. You, my love, have added LIFE to mine. Happy Birthday, Jonesy! Your very thankful husband, Rob P.S. and sorry about Vermont this year. Our dream anniversary/your next birthday trip will be even better next year. (It had better be!)

The students participated in laser tag, basketball, volleyball, eating food, and worship. On September 30 th our student ministry participated in a purity rally at North Arkansas College put on by the Christian organization called Silver Ring Thing. October 9-11 is our Fall Retreat at Camp Siloam. This is a great weekend for our students to be with other youth groups to worship, hear the Word, fellowship, and have fun.
