Meeting Notes The meeting was called to order at 2PM by President Ernie Castelli. We began the meeting with reports of Ann Bixler, Raymond Kane, and Cheryl Hinson experiencing health concerns but all on their way to recovery, we wish them all well. Thank you to Dale Buffington for selling T-shirts. If you are interested in purchasing one see Dale at the meeting or come to Tuesday night carving at the EBACC to see what is still available! Discussion was held on final Preparations for our annual show. Everything was on track and we were all looking forward to a very enjoyable weekend! John Lovett Santa done in Michelle Stetson s class Nick Sciortino 2-sided carving with Santa on 1 side and a tree when you flip it We will be having a "Display of Carvings" at the Brethren Home, located at Cross Keys Village, during the month of December 2008. Carvings may be up for sale (you determine what the price is), or for display only - your choice. If your carving is for sale, the Brethren Home does not take a commission, however a donation is always appreciated, as the donation goes to their fund to help pay costs for those residents who are "running short." The carvings are being displayed in a prime location in the same building as the Campus Inn (their open to the public restaurant) The display case is on the first floor so there should be good traffic flow. If interested, contact John Lovett at 717-624- 4068, or email john37marie@embarqmail.com,, or 70 Matthew Drive, New Oxford, PA 17350. You will be expected to leave the carvings on display for the entire month. November Wood Splinters Volume 5, Issue 11 2008 Banquet Thank you to John Lovett and Joan Hiser for putting together another very enjoyable banquet! There was great food, excellent company and outstanding entertainment! Congratulations to Bill Zech for being the honoree at this year s banquet. Bill has done a very long list of things for our club including serving twice as president, being our membership chairman for 17 years, setting up both the picnic and banquet for many years and mentoring numerous carvers in the club! Bill, Thank you! Another special thank you to Dave and Linda (Jerkwater) Murphy and their talented band for entertaining us at the banquet! I didn t know there are so many Jerkwater cousins! We even had a visit from Elvis! If you missed the banquet this year, we had a great time! Please consider joining us next year! Page 2
