A NOTE FROM YOUR PASTOR During this Liturgical season many of the Gospel readings are from Saint Matthew. Although he wrote in the later part of the first century, his verses from Chapter 7: 7-8 was part of the classic statement from Field of Dreams, if you build it they will come. Saint Matthew wrote Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. As you know, I have been looking to hire a part time Adult Faith Formation coordinator. I am pleased to inform you that Barbara Conder has accepted our offer to serve as Director of Adult Faith Formation. She brings a background of active ministry in the Church since 1986, on the parish, diocesan, regional, national and international levels of the Catholic Church. Barbara earned her Master s degree in Theology and comes with a heart to touch the souls of others. Her husband Dan was a Special Education teacher for many years and along with Barbara, they volunteered for Special Olympics. Their son works for the Archdiocese of New York and they have been foster parents to many children and a foreign exchange student from South America. Help me welcome Barbara. You can contact her through her email:bconder.sfx@gmail.com or call 920-436-6380 ext. 206. I hope we can all give her a warm welcome as she introduces herself to us this weekend! Wednesday, July 22nd, join us for a social gathering at the Farmers Market on Broadway! This amazing street-lined farmers' market features fruits, vegetables, arts, crafts, fresh and hot food, live entertainment, boutique shopping, desserts, and drinks. It will be perfect for us to eat, socialize, stroll the historic downtown, and get to know each other. For the time and meeting location, make sure to sign up for our Flocknote! We would love to have you join us! Join our Flocknote to receive email updates and text alerts about upcoming events: www.flocknote.com/ CathedralYoungAdults or text cathedral to 84576. If you have any questions or ideas, please contact Sarah Bradford at sarahelizbradford@gmail.com. Cathedral Young Adults is a collaboration between St. Francis Xavier Cathedral and St. John the Evangelist Parish, open to all young adults (18-39) in the diocese. A LETTER FROM OUR ADOPTED SEMINARIAN Cathedral Parishioners, This year of formation to the priesthood has been filled with Gods love and his grace. At St. Francis de Sales Seminary in Milwaukee the second theologians primarily focused on different ministerial experiences. My ministerial experience was working with a group called Franciscan Peacemakers who take it upon themselves to help women who are living and working on the streets of Milwaukee and provide an opportunity for these women to leave the lives of bondage and drugs that many of them find themselves in. This ministry opened my eyes to a new understanding of what it means to serve Christ in all people. This summer I will be continuing to learn what it means to serve God's people in a Clinical Pastoral Education (C.P.E) program in Rockford Illinois where I will have the opportunity to minister to people in a hospital setting. I fully expect for this to be a summer of growth in prayer and what it means to serve God in little ways. I ask for prayers as I continue on this journey of formation towards the Heart of Christ and (God willing) His holy priesthood. Thank you for your prayers and support, Adam J. Bradley

YOUNG ADULT FOOD AND FAITH SERIES Theology & Tapas Bite sized food meets bite sized faith! Combine theology, tapas and young adults for an evening that will enrich body and soul on: July 22nd at St. Brendan s Inn, Green Bay. Time for both events: 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm. Questions? Call Phil Lawson (920) 272-8304. "Contemplative prayer is nothing else than a close sharing between friends; it means taking time frequently to be alone with Him who we know loves us." ~St. Teresa of Avila In the past few weeks, you have practiced turning to God during the day as you would to a friend, sharing conversation. You have practiced speaking and being quiet. This week when you take time during your day to be with God, focus your attention on listening to Him. A good friend knows when to speak and when to listen.
