Go and preach the Good News will be the theme of the visit to Plymouth-Trinity of a group from the Canadian branch of the Church of Jesus Christ in Madagascar, organised by our own Nadia Andriamahefa. After the worship service, the group of about 100 will sing songs of praise and provide a Malagasy meal for our Mission and Service Birthday/Anniversary luncheon. Hallelujah! Please come and bring someone with you. - 5 -
Outreach Projects The entire city of Fort McMurray has been evacuated because of wildfires continuing to burn out of control. In an unprecedented evacuation order the entire population of Fort McMurray, about 80,000 people, were ordered to leave the city. More than 2,000 structures have been destroyed. We stand in solidarity with our sisters and brothers in Alberta. Our heartfelt prayers go to those who have lost their homes in the fire. The United Church of Canada is accepting donations to support the response of our Alberta and Northwest Conference to this disaster. You can donate through the United Church online or by making out a cheque to Plymouth-Trinity and marking it Emergency Response - Fort McMurray. (Over $300 was donated last Sunday.) In the Community Janet McBurney has accepted the baton once again and will be participating in her 13 th Relay For Life to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society on June 17 th. From celebrating survivors in a victory lap to luminary ceremonies remembering loved ones, Relay For Life is more than just a fundraiser. It is a life-affirming, community experience and a commitment to save more lives. This is our chance to help create a world where no one fears cancer - and have a great time doing it! Tax receipts are available upon request for donations of $10 or more. Luminaires (candles) are available for $5 and are personalized in honour of those battling cancer or in memory of those who lost the fight. For more information, please contact Janet at 819-565-9716 or j.mcburney@sympatico.ca by June 5 th. - 6 -
COMMUNION LITURGY The peace of the Lord IS with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give God thanks and praise. It is truly right (...). Therefore, we praise you, joining our voices with the choirs of heaven and with all the faithful of every time and place who forever claim the glory of your name: Holy, holy, holy, Lord, God of power and might, Heaven and earth are full of your glory, Hosanna in the highest. Hymn Santo, santo, santo VU 951 San-to, san-to, san-to. Mi co-ra-zón te a-do-ra! Mi co-ra-zón te sa-be de-cir: San-to e-res Dios! Remembering all your mighty and merciful acts, (...). Great is the mystery of faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again. Gracious God, you pour out your Holy Spirit upon us and upon these your gifts of bread and wine; the bread we break and the cup we bless are the communion in the body and the blood of Christ. By the Spirit you fuse us with the living Christ and with all who are baptized in his name, we become one in ministry in every place. As this bread is Christ s body for us, you send us out to be the body of Christ in the world. Breaking and sharing of the bread / Fraction et partage du pain Blessing and sharing of the cup / Elevation et partage de la coupe Prayer after Communion / Prière après la communion O God, today you have called us together to be the church (...). Amen.
Introduction RECEPTION OF NEW MEMBERS: NADIA & LOÏC There are different gifts, but it is the same spirit who gives them. There are different ways of serving, but it is the same God who is served. God works through different people in different ways, but it is the same God who achieves holy purposes through them all. The Spirit gives each one gifts to use for the common good. Candidates: presentation and commitment Prière Commitment of the congregation And now we ask all of you: Are you willing to freely exercise the ministry God to which God is calling you amongst us according to your particular gifts and talents, faithfully bearing witness to the love of Christ for the sake of all? Yes, by the grace of God. And now, as a community, let us pledge our continued support and care. We will continue to support you, walk with you and grow with you. With God s help, we live out our baptisms as a loving community in Jesus Christ; nurturing one another in faith, upholding one another in prayer, encouraging one another in God s work. Prayer Lord, you have created us as one human family and in Jesus, you bring the good news of your love for all. We are blessed with your Spirit as you bring us together in community. You empower us to go out into the world with a daring and tender love; the world is waiting. We go to bear witness to God s love in our lives.
