May is the Month of the Blessed Mother The Most Important Person on Earth is a Mother! She cannot claim the honor of having built Notre Dame Cathedral. She need not. She has built something more magnificent than any cathedral a dwelling for an immortal soul, the tiny perfection of her baby s body The angels have not been blessed with such a grace. They cannot share in God s creative miracle to bring new saints to Heaven. Only a human mother can. Mothers are closer to God the Creator than any other creature; God joins forces with mothers in performing this act of creation What on God s good earth is more glorious than this: to be a MOTHER! Joseph Cardinal Mindszenty The Vigil of Pentecost is a Privilaged Vigil, which will be Celebrated at the 5:00 PM Mass on May 19 th. Therefore, there will not be an 8:00 AM Mass on Saturday morning. Mother s Day Spiritual Bouquet Mass Cards If you would like to include your living or deceased loved ones in our Mother s Day Mass Intentions, Mother s Day Spiritual Bouquet Mass Cards are available in the Narthex. A free will Donation is accepted.

Flower Donations for Pentecost and Corpus Christi We will now be purchasing our floral arrangements from a commercial florist. If you would like to donate the flowers for Pentecost or Corpus Christi, please contact the Rectory office at 856-753-3408 Or email: secretary@materecclesiae.org. The Flowers may be donated in Loving Memory of a Deceased Loved One or for a Special Intention. AROUND THE DIOCESE JOB OPENING: Our Lady of Hope Parish is seeking a Part- Time Bookkeeper. The position is inclusive to the finances of the Parish, Regional School and Hispanic Ministry. 28 hours per week, bookkeeping experience required. Interested candidates should submit their resume to the Business Manager, Tracy Pezzuto via email to TPezzuto@OurLadyOfHopeNJ.org or mail to: 701 Little Gloucester Rd., Blackwood, NJ 08012. Thank You Viola for Years of Volunteer Service as our Florist! After many years of faithful volunteer service, our florist Viola Iuliucci, has retired. Over the years, Viola has used her artistic talents to create beautiful floral arrangements for our church. This has allowed us to have the beauty of exquisite flowers at a fraction of the cost that would have been paid had we used a commercial florist. With Viola s retirement, we now must transition to a commercial florist and form a committee of volunteers to take over the liturgical floral duties. The committee members would take care of the potted plants for Christmas and Easter, and take turns accepting the weekly delivery of the flowers at the church. They would then place the flowers on the altar. Father Pasley will have a meeting with the committee to go over the Liturgical Calendar and plan the flower schedule for the coming year. If you would like to volunteer, please contact the Rectory: 856-753-3408 or secretary@materecclesiae.org Please consider being a part of our Flower Committee. Thank you!

Pasley s 36 th Anniversary of Ordination On the First Commandment Q. 1154. What must we carefully guard against in all our devotions and religious practices? A. In all our devotions and religious practices we must carefully guard against expecting God to perform miracles when natural causes may bring about what we hope for. God will sometimes miraculously help us, but, as a rule, only when all natural means have failed. Q. 1155. What are dreams and why is it forbidden to believe in them? A. Dreams are the thoughts we have in sleep, when our will is unable to guide them. It is forbidden to believe in them, because they are often ridiculous, unreasonable, or wicked, and are not governed by either reason or faith. Q. 1156. Are bad dreams sinful in themselves? A. Bad dreams are not sinful in themselves, because we cannot prevent them, but we may make them sinful: 1. By taking pleasure in them when we awake, and 2. By bad reading or immodest looks, thoughts, word or actions before going to sleep; for by any of these things we may make ourselves responsible for the bad dreams.
