JESUS HEALS A PARALYZED MAN Matthew 9 1 And he entered into a ship (boat), and passed (crossed) over, and came into his own city. 2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee (Linked with affliction of sin. Ask for forgiveness of sin before asking for healing.) (The Bible tells us 1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. (Jesus had a house in Capernaum) 2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them (He taught them what Moses and the Prophets recorded-this is the word He preached; they were zealous that He could heal; nothing could stop Him.). 3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. 4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press (crowd), they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. 5 When Jesus saw their faith (Jesus was impressed by their faith.), he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee (Only God can say that.). 6 But there was certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, 7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only (This is true; they didn t know He was a divine person.)? 8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? 9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk (Permission from God-authority from God.)? 10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) (Only the one given permission by God can do both.) 11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. 12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion (They never saw anything like this). Mark 2:1-12). 3 And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth (They thought evil instead of being thankful.) The Bible tells us 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love (the fulfilling of the Law): 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ
to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved (The family of God.). 7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; 8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; 9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will (Genesis 1:26), according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: 10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times (blowing of the last trump) he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven (The spirit that went to God and will reconstitute our physical bodies.), and which are on earth (those still alive); even in him: 11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: 12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise (The holy spirit is what seals us-not a person.), 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:3-14). 4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts (The Bible tells us 25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: Matthew 12:25)? 5 For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? 6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house (The power of God placed in the Priest; the man could not heal but God.). 7 And he arose, and departed to his house. 8 But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men (Key to healing; we are instruments through which God works.). JESUS EATS WITH SINNERS AT MATTHEW S HOUSE 9 And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom (Tax office.): and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him (Background of how Matthew followed Christ is omitted.). 10 And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. 11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? (The house was open to all kinds of people; Christ had an
open house; welcome. The Bible tells us 19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children. Matthew 11:19) 12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole (well) need not a physician, but they that are sick. 13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance (When someone is sick; don t clobber them with the Law of God; first show mercy and gentleness and bring them back. There is a proper order; the other is extreme and just showing mercy and no Law). (The Bible tells us 6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. Hosea 6:6) 14 Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not? 15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast (The Bible tells us 29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. John 3:29). 16 No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse (God puts His spirit into a new vessel.). 17 Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved. JESUS HEALS A BLEEDING WOMAN AND RESTORES A GIRL TO LIFE 18 While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler (A man of faith because he was obedient no doubt of the synagogue.), and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live (He knew he was different; he was a servant of God.). 19 And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples. 20 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: (A garment that symbolized the Law of God.)
21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. 22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole (well; your way of life and obedience). And the woman was made whole from that hour (The Bible tells us 19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole. Luke 18:42). 23 And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise (professional mourners) (The Bible tells us 17 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for cunning women, that they may come: 18 And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters. Jeremiah 9:17-18), 24 He said unto them, Give place (get out): for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. 25 But when the people were put (out) forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose (Jesus did not want a big show.). 26 And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land. JESUS HEALS THE BLIND AND THE MUTE 27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us (They had the knowledge that Jesus was coming.) The Bible tells us 30 And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David. Matthew 20:30). 28 And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord (Faith comes with obedience.). 29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. 30 And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly (sternly) charged them, saying, See that no man know it (Jesus was not interested in a big show. The Bible tells us 8 The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous: 9 The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down. 10 The LORD shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the LORD. Psalm 146:8-10).
31 But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country (The Bible tells us 36 And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it; 37 And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb (mute) to speak. Mark 7:36-37). 32 As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil (Mute and demon possessed.). (The Bible tells us 14 And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered. 15 But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils. Luke 11:14-15.) 33 And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake (mute spake): and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel. 34 But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils (demons) through the prince of the devils (demons). (The Bible tells us 20 The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil (demon): who goeth about to kill thee? John 7:20) 35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel (good news) of the kingdom (of Israel), and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them (Just like the ministers today; what have they done to my people.), because they fainted (weary-physical and spiritually), and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; (The Bible tells us 2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. Luke 10:2) 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. (Harvest of God was to Israel and those He would graft in; His people.) (What was their problem? Hand faith but no obedience. Like many today say they believe but don t do what God says. God wants faith and obedience.) MEMORY VERSE Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. Matthew 9:38 BELOW IS THE SABBATH SCHOOL LESSON FOR TOTS
JESUS HEALS THE BLIND AND THE MUTE AND WHEN JESUS DEPARTED THENCE, TWO BLIND MEN FOLLOWED HIM, CRYING, AND SAYING, THOU SON OF DAVID, HAVE MERCY ON US. (They had the knowledge that Jesus was coming.) MATTHEW 9:27 AND WHEN HE WAS COME INTO THE HOUSE, THE BLIND MEN CAME TO HIM: AND JESUS SAITH UNTO THEM, BELIEVE YE THAT I AM ABLE TO DO THIS? THEY SAID UNTO HIM, YEA, LORD (Faith comes with obedience.) THEN TOUCHED HE THEIR EYES, SAYING, ACCORDING YOUR FAITH BE IT UNTO YOU. AND THEIR EYES WERE OPENED; AND JESUS STRAITLY (STERNLY) CHARGED THEM, SAYING, SEE THAT NO MAN KNOW IT. THE LORD OPENETH THE EYES OF OTHE BLIND: THE LORD RAISETH THEM THAT ARE BOWED DOWN: THE LORD LOVETH THE RIGHTEOUS: THE LORD PRESERVETH THE STRANGERS; HE RELIEVETH THE FATHERLESS AND THE WIDOW: BUT THE WICKED HE TURNETH UPSIDE DOWN. THE LORD SHALL REIGN FOR EVER, EVEN THEY GOD, O ZION, UNTO ALL GENERATIONS. PRAISE YE
THE LORD. PSALM 146:8-10 BUT THEY, WHEN THEY WERE DEPARTED, SPREAD ABROAD HIS FAME IN ALL THE COUNTRY. AND HE CHARGED THEM THAT THEY SHOULD TELL NO MAN: BUT THE MORE HE CHARGED THEM, SO MUCH THEY MORE A GREAT THEY PUBLISHED IT; AND WERE BEYOND MEASURE ASTONISHED, SAYING, HE HATH DONE ALL THINGS WELL: HE MAKETH BOTH THE DEAF TO HEAR, AND THE DUMB (MUTE) TO SPEAK. MARK 7:36-37 AND JESUS WENT ABOUT ALL THE CITIES AND VILLAGES, TEACHING IN THEIR SYNAGOGUES, AND PREACHING THE GOSPEL (GOOD NEWS) OF THE KINGDOM, AND HEALING EVERY SICKNESS AND EVERY DISEASE AMONG THE PEOPLE. MEMORY VERSE PRAY YE THOREFORE THE LORD OF THE HEARVEST, THAT HE WILL SEND FORTH LABOURERS INTO HIS HARVEST. MATTHEW 9:38
