The Journey Campaign Continues The Journey Capital Campaign continues. Thank you for your faithfulness and obedience to God for helping do your part to take care of our church facility an amazing tool God has allowed us to have to reach the lost, train disciples, and impact our community. The Capital Campaign helps raise funds to pay the monthly mortgage on our facility. The monthly mortgage is approximately $8,000. It truly takes every family at Cross Point being obedient to work together to accomplish this task. It s not too late to get involved! Every gift, no matter the size, helps reach our goal. If you would like to learn more about The Journey, please pick up a campaign booklet at the Information Center in the lobby. Don t forget, when donating gifts to the Capital Campaign be sure to write Building Fund on the memo line of your check or check the appropriate box on a tithing envelope. Monthly Goal: $8,000.00 Received in April: $5,293.33 Women s Gathering I was sitting there weeping when I heard, Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking? I thought it was the gardener, but then, He called me by name, Mary. It was Jesus! And He is alive! Our lesson in April was the resurrection account through the eyes of Mary Magdalene, and I wonder, How would I respond if I heard Jesus call my name? How would you respond? Can you imagine being the first person to see Jesus after the resurrection? To be in the tomb expecting to smell death but smelling a few spices and seeing His body not there! It is more than I can comprehend, yet I believe and know it is true. How do I know? I heard His voice say, Freda, follow me. Jesus said, Blessed are those who have not seen, yet believe. That s us! During our April Women s Gathering our women enjoyed refreshments from Marie Toler, Lou Hall, and Renva Toler. Sweet fellowship followed. Ladies, you are invited to join us for our next gathering on May 21 at 5:00 PM. We hope to see you there! Article submitted by Freda Akers. Photo at right: Freda Akers portraying Mary Magdalene. Freda gave a realistic and emotional reading portraying Mary Magdalene as a follower and eyewitness to the final hours of Jesus Christ. Marshmallows that represent Jesus are dipped into butter, cinnamon, and sugar representing burial oil and spices. The dipped marshmallows are then wrapped in crescent rolls representing Jesus burial in the tomb. When baked, the marshmallow melts away representing Jesus rising from the tomb! Proverbs 22:6 shares these words, Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Cross Point values children and sharing the wonderful news of Jesus Christ with them. Numerous volunteers selflessly pour into the lives of our children every week. This is evident by the numerous examples of Cross Point children living out their faith and demonstrating the excitement of serving Jesus. In the photo above Emerie, daughter of Nathan & Katie Barnes, helps lead worship during a Sunday service in April. Share your story! Share your news, praises, and celebrations. Email Pastor Justin at justin@beckleycrosspoint.org to share your story. Crescent Elementary Graduation Volunteers Needed God has allowed Cross Point Church an amazing opportunity to connect with students and their families from Crescent Elementary. For the fourth year Cross Point will host the Fifth Grade Graduation Ceremony for Crescent Elementary. This is an amazing opportunity to shine our light with the love of Jesus Christ to our neighbors! The event will take place on Monday evening May 22. To help make this evening special, we need your help. We need volunteers who can help direct traffic, welcome guests as they enter the facility, help clean up afterwards, and assist with other tasks. Volunteers need to be at the church by 4:00 PM on May 22. If you can help with this amazing opportunity be sure to stop by the Information Center in the lobby to sign up. May 2017 5

Student Highlight I am proud and excited to share that God is doing great things in and through our students at Cross Point. Here is a testimony of God at work in one of our students. Recently a student came up to me and shared about a need of someone he knew that was struggling and had very little. After sharing about the details, asking for prayer for this person and more conversations, this student came to me and wanted to challenge the student ministry to help fill the need. Over the past month, Hunter Hosch, got up and challenged our youth ministry to give to this need. The picture here is Hunter with the donations of food that we collected on April 5th, to help meet the need. Scripture tells us, "Don t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity ( 1 Timothy 4:12 NIV). Hunter great job listening to God and being obedient in loving your neighbor! Hunter Hosch is a senior at Woodrow Wilson High School. He is planning to attend Concord University in the fall. What is God speaking to your heart? Are you listening? Are you being obedient? From a proud and blessed youth pastor. Sincerely Pastor Rob Cross Point T-shirts Now Available! Represent your church and help support the youth ministry! New Cross Point t-shirts are available for purchase. Each shirt is $20 and proceeds help support the upcoming Peru Mission trip. Thank you to everyone who voted and helped pick the new shirt design. Stop by the display in the lobby to order your shirt. Thank you for partnering with our student ministry to raise up a new generation of Christ-centered disciples! Women s Book Club The Cross Point Women's Book Club will meet Tuesday, May 16th at 10:30 AM in the church lobby. We hope you will join us to discuss Wonder by RJ Palacio. We will find out how fifth graders learned important lessons in kindness as a new student with a severe cranio-facial condition joins their class. Ann Darby will facilitate the discussion as we explore what the Bible says about kindness. Is kindness more than just being nice? Two copies of the book are floating around the church if you would like to borrow one. It is also available on Kindle and at B.A.M. Submitted by: Ann Darby & India Hosch May 2017 6

Download the App Today http://get.theapp.co/4d41 Prayer Chain Prayer is a powerful tool we have as Christians. As a church family we can help lift each other up in prayer. One way we do this at Cross Point is through our Prayer Chain. The prayer chain is a group of people who have opted in to receive prayer requests. When an urgent prayer request is received, it is sent to this group using our church notification system. Each member then receives the request so they can begin praying for the need. Individuals who would like to be added to the prayer chain should contact Justin Davis in the church office at (304) 252-6684. To submit a prayer request, follow this procedure: Monday-Thursday 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. Call the church office at: (304) 252-6684. All other times, call Justin Davis at (304) 575-2363. If no answer, leave a message and Justin will put it on the prayer chain as soon as possible. Rent A Youth Is there a job on your to do list that you just don t have time or you don t want to do? Why not rent one of our youth to help with your chores? Money raised from Rent A Youth helps our youth attend various youth activities. If you are interested in renting one or more of our youth, see Pastor Rob. Don t Throw Away Those Cans! The youth ministry has been collecting aluminum cans to be recycled to raise money to support youth activities. You can drop off your aluminum cans at the church during office hours (Monday Thursday 8AM -4PM). There is a collection can near the gym. Help support our youth and save our environment!
