Dear Friends By the time you read this, some of you will be back from holidays and some, like Adrienne and myself, will be still be looking forward to a holiday. I trust that you will all have a good break whether you are going away or enjoying a stay-cation. Holidays are an important time to spend together without the usual pressures of work and school, and maybe there is opportunity to see family members who live further away. These are precious times because families are special. Parish contacts: Rector: Canon Paul Houston 01 820 0040 Reader: Stella Obe 087 2237402 Parish Website: www.castleknock.dublin.anglican.org Parish Office: Jennifer McGrath 01 820 0040 Hours: 9.30-1.00 pm weekdays (Closed Wednesday) cmcparishoffice@gmail.com We often refer to a congregation as the church family, and we see this worked out in many ways, not least in the practical caring that goes on and that I sometimes hear about. Review Distribution: Beatrice Richards: 01 838 2590 Castleknock National School: Principal: Mrs Sandra Moloney 01 820 2611 Holidays are a time of enjoyment and relaxation. They can be a time to reflect, a time to look at our priorities and to think about our spiritual lives. Church services continue at home and around the world. As I have mentioned before, there are Anglican Churches throughout Europe and the world and they would be delighted to see you. If you do attend a Church while you are on holiday, perhaps you could bring back their Sunday service sheet and a magazine for me. I am always interested to know what is happening in other churches, and to learn. As we travel through life it is important that we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus Christ. Jesus is the man for all seasons. Our vision should be outward looking to God and the world, upwards to God and outwards to the world, in love and service. I wish you all a happy and peaceful holiday season. The CMC Times: Editor: Philip Good If you wish to comment on or contribute to The CMC Times, the email address is: thecmctimes@gmail.com Please feel free to take some copies of the magazine to give to your friends and family Come join us on Facebook for more fun and information @CastleknockandMulhuddartwithClonsilla If any parishioners are unwell or due to go into hospital, please let us know so we can visit. Coffee Morning for DEIS Madagascar DEIS Madagascar CLG continues its association with the Madagascar Development Fund (MDF), a respected Malagasy-registered NGO - see our website www.deismadagascar.ie. In partnership with MDF and the local community, we have identified a project at the State Primary School at Morazevo, namely the construction of two new classrooms. Morazevo is a village situated about an hour s drive north-east of Antananarivo, in the Central Highlands. The spin-off of such a project will see the building of a safe, secure structure that will encourage parents to send their children, who might otherwise be kept at home, to school and at the same time increase the morale of the teachers and the performance of the children. The cost of the project is 9,045 sterling (in the region of 10,500 depending on the prevailing exchange rate). With a small band of volunteers, we commenced our fundraising campaign with a Christmas Craft Fair at TESCO Cabra on 25th November 2017 (raising 345), and on 8th December we ran a Night of Beatles Music in the Dublin Workingmen s Club (raising 2,553.50). A Supporter of DEIS Madagascar, Martin Sneyd, organised a Table Quiz on 23rd March in GAA Club, which raised 1,270. Finally the Coffee Morning and Cake Sale in 7 Croaghpatrick Road, Dublin 7 on Saturday 9th June raised 1,345. One of the many highlights of the Coffee Morning was the presentation of a delicious, home-made Victoria Sponge Cake by Canon Paul, who rose to the challenge with flying colours. It attracted an eye-watering price from one very satisfied and generous supporter. The fundraising involved a tremendous lot of effort and hard work, and DEIS Madagascar now has 9,500 towards the cost of the new classrooms at Morazevo. As a result, it is hoped that construction will begin in September 2018 and be completed before the end of the year. We would like to thank Canon Paul and all the parishioners of Castleknock and Mulhuddart with Clonsilla, who along with all our neighbours, friends, family and supporters, turned out in such great numbers to support our annual Coffee Morning. Kind regards Marie and Bernard Neary 3
