Chapter 12 Truth Thy LAW is the TRUTH and all thy (10 Love) COMMANDMENTS are TRUTH (Psalms 119:142, 151) The day Jesus was crucified, he told Pilate, To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the TRUTH. Every one that is of the TRUTH heareth my voice (John 18:37). A confused Pilate muttered, What is TRUTH? (John 18:38). Ah, the million dollar question! Yet, it is so simple. Do you know what truth is? The Bible is clear on its meaning: The truth is love (God)! Jesus came to bear witness of love, and everyone that loves hears God s voice. Since truth is love, then truth is displayed by obeying the 10 Love Commandments. THAT is why John wrote (and I am now going to finish the verse from the last chapter): And hereby we do know that we know him (God), if we keep his (10 Love) commandments. He that saith, I know him (God), and keepeth not his (10 Love) commandments, is a liar, and the TRUTH is not in him (I John 2:3, 4). Wow, WHAT is not in him? The TRUTH!!! This verse proves the truth is love, for love is shown by obeying the 10 Love Commandments. Show me a person who disobeys the 10 Love Commandments, and I will show 263
you a person who is devoid of truth (love)! Jesus said: And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that DOETH TRUTH cometh to the light, that his DEEDS may be made manifest, that THEY are wrought in God (Love) (John 3:19-21). Friend, how can someone DO truth? And what are these deeds (works) wrought in God (love)? Come on, reader, how could it be any CLEARER!!! They are the deeds (works) of obeying the 10 LOVE Commandments. Someone who does the things on the do side of the 10 Love Commandment chart and does not do the things on the do not side DOES truth (love)! In other words, people who live sinfully (do evil by disobeying the 10 Love Commandments) hate the truth (love). But people who live righteously (do good by obeying the 10 Love Commandments) love the truth (love). The Apostle Paul penned: And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the LOVE of the TRUTH, that they might be saved That they all might be damned who believed not the TRUTH, but had pleasure in unrighteousness (II Thessalonians 2:10,12). Ah, come on! It is glaringly obvious again in this verse what truth is! Notice the Bible s juxtaposition: believing not the truth (love) equals having pleasure in unrighteousness (sin). Friend, I cannot be anymore straightforward; the truth is literally shown by obeying the 10 Love Commandments! Do you see? People who willfully sin (disobey the 10 Love Commandments) are those who live in unrighteousness meaning they do not believe nor will receive God, who IS Love (Truth) and therefore, they will perish! They CANNOT be saved because they do not DO Truth (love); they would rather enjoy their wicked sin. Remember Lucifer was the original sinner which denotes he was the first one to defect from truth. Addressing the Pharisees, listen to Christ s harsh words: Ye are of your father the devil, and the LUST of your father ye will DO. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode NOT in the TRUTH, because there is no TRUTH in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and 264
the father of it (John 8:44). Do you recognize how Jesus is naming (listing) disobedience to 10 Love Commandment things namely, the 6 th (Thou shalt not Murder) & 9 th (Thou shalt not lie) as evidence the truth is not in Lucifer? In other words, there is literally NO Love in Satan!!! Yes, those who disobey the 10 Love Commandments abide NOT in the truth (love)! And Lucifer chose to do THAT (sin) by telling a lie and murdering the souls of mankind! Friend, by now you should be completely convinced the truth = love, indicating the truth is shown by obeying the 10 Love Commandments. And, in fact, the 3 things are identical: truth = love = obey the 10 Love Commandments. Moreover, Jesus referred to the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Truth : But when the Comforter (Holy Spirit) is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, EVEN the SPIRIT OF TRUTH, which proceedeth from the Father (John 15:26). See, if one truly becomes born again of God (Love), they will be compelled to DO truth (obey the 10 Love Commandments) because the Spirit of Truth comes from God. This should be no surprise to you because God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all the same: They are all LOVE!!! So, if you willingly disobey the 10 LOVE Commandments, you prove you are NOT born again, for a born again person is spiritually reborn of the Spirit of Truth (Love). Are you starting to see how all these Biblical terms are centered around (on) the 10 Love Commandments i.e. love, truth, and the Holy Spirit? Friend, they are all the same thing! In other words, if you are NOT willfully obeying the 10 Love Commandments you do not know God (love), the truth is not in you, and you are not born again of the Holy Spirit! You should now be able to discern the correct meaning of Jesus words: IF ye CONTINUE in my WORD, THEN are ye my disciples indeed; And YE shall KNOW the TRUTH, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:31, 32). In other words, ONLY by DOING the things Jesus said to DO which was all based on the 10 Love Commandments do you prove you know the truth!!! Do you understand? I know you know what Jesus taught: He taught love (obeying the 10 Love Commandments) was the PATH to obtaining eternal life. Thus, in this verse Jesus is saying we MUST CONTINUE 265
in his word (which again confirms obtaining eternal life is a daily journey!) to know the truth and to have IT set us free. To be blunt, Jesus is declaring if we constantly obey the 10 Love Commandments (know the truth), we WILL obtain eternal life. This is simple, right? Friend, if we live a life of love, our deeds will prove we know the truth and that we have been set free from the bondage of sin. Love literally sets us free!!! Listen to the result of someone who continues in Christ s words: Verily, verily, I (Jesus) say unto you, If a man KEEP my saying, he shall never see (spiritual) death (John 8:51). I pray something is changing inside your spirit (thoughts, desires, & emotions) as you read these life-giving, spiritual words God wrote. I hope a desire is bubbling up inside of your heart compelling you to want to religiously obey God s 10 Love Commandments. We all need to take a long, hard look at our lives and correct everything we are doing wrong! Are you stealing cable illegally? Are you watching pornographic videos? Do you lie to business costumers? Are you cheating on your taxes? The list is endless, but I am warning you to clean (rid) your spiritual temple of all sin. Prepare to meet the Messiah, Jesus Christ, because he is almost here! Then, after making the decision to clean up your life, NEVER go back to sin i.e. continue in love and you will know the truth, and that WILL set you free! Peter confirms the truth is love something which needs to be obeyed by instructing: Seeing ye have purified your souls in OBEYING the TRUTH through the SPIRIT unto unfeigned LOVE of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently (I Peter 1:22). What can I say? Peter s words tie all these concepts together: If we obey the truth (the 10 Love Commandments) we prove we have been born again of the Spirit of Truth and purify our souls through love of God and our neighbor! Then, ALL we have to DO to obtain eternal life is continue journeying in love continue to love with a pure heart fervently. THAT is the narrow WAY which leads to eternal life that few will find, because most people do NOT want to love (obey the 10 Love Commandments). Most people want to enjoy the pleasure of not loving (sin). How about you? In wrapping up this chapter, I saved the definitive Biblical proof the 10 Love Commandments are the truth until the end, 266
for the psalmist cried: Thy LAW is the TRUTH and all thy COMMANDMENTS are TRUTH (Psalms 119:142, 151). Wow! Yes, the truth = obey the 10 (Love) Commandment LAW. One time in Scripture, God even called His 10 Love Commandments the Law of Truth while speaking through His prophet Malachi: The LAW OF TRUTH was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity (sin) (Malachi 2:5, 6). I pray I can persuade you to turn away from iniquity (sin), for your soul s eternal future is riding on your decision! Truly, obeying the Law of Truth can set you free, which means if you obey the 10 Love Commandments you will obtain eternal life! The Psalmist sung: I have chosen the WAY of TRUTH I will run the WAY of thy COMMANDMENTS I shall keep thy LAW; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart (Psalms 119:30, 32, 34). Whomever you are reading this book, I want you to know that I love you. My spirit often groans for everyone living on the face of planet Earth, for I long for everyone to know God (love). I do not want ANYONE to end up in the fires of hell, which means I avidly desire for people to follow the WAY of TRUTH to obey the 10 Love Commandments and obtain eternal life: Search me, O God, and know my heart; test my thoughts. Point out anything you find in me that makes you sad, and lead me along the PATH of eternal life (Psalms 139:23, Living Bible). 267
