PAGE 2 FROM THE PASTOR S DESK My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Thank you to everyone who participated in our celebration of 40 Hours this past weekend. It was so wonderful to see so many come and spend time with our Blessed Lord present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. It was truly a time of many blessings for our parish. I also want to thank Fr. Neil Roy for his inspiring words during our Solemn Closing of the Devotions. Please note that this Friday, November 1, All Saints Day, is a Holy Day of Obligation. Please be sure to consult the schedule below for the Mass times. I might also ask you to consider arriving a little early to Mass to make a visit to the beautiful reliquaries which are located in the vestibule of the church. When we look upon the relics of the saints we are reminded of their heroic lives. They intercede for us and offer to us an example of Christian Virtue to follow in our own spiritual lives. May God s blessings be yours this week. Father Ireland FIRST SATURDAY MASS & DEVOTIONS Next Saturday is the First Saturday of the month of November. There will be a Mass celebrated in the Extraordinary Form at 8 o clock in the morning. Confessions will precede the Mass, and the First Saturday Devotions and Rosary will follow. (Romano Guardini) From the Bishops Pastoral on Stewardship. Do we fully participate in the mystery in our daily lives through our generosity in stewardship? I pray that you will continue to strive to be generous in your response to God s Love. Father Ireland...from the voices of the children... These good deeds for God were among those written by the children who used their offering envelopes this week. (Reproduced as the children wrote them.) Now might be a great time to consider setting up an on-line payment account with your bank to ensure that the parish regularly receives the benefit of your generosity. It s as easy as setting up a credit card payment, utility payment, etc. You might even want to set up a recurring payment Need help? Call Eileen. During this Year of Faith, we are asked to learn more about the Catechism of the Catholic Church ~ Q Made my own brekfist this morning. Shared my toys with my drother. Cheered on my team even though we were losing. Lit a candle at church for a friend with breast cancer. Thank you, children. Father Ireland Why we believe, what we believe. What are we really celebrating on Halloween? A. Halloween is a derivation of the term holy person or saint. The recognition of the All Saints Feast day dates back to Pope Boniface in the 7th century when he dedicated the Pantheon in Rome to the Blessed Mother and the martyrs. Pope Gregory III made the Roman observance on November 1 when he dedicated a chapel in the Vatican Basilica to All the Saints. All Saints Day is a Holy day of obligation. (From the Catholic Encyclopedia) Living Faith The Lord hears the cry of the poor. (Ps.34:7a)
