Divine Mercy Parish Council Meeting May 14, 2014 Minutes Opening Prayer: Led by Fr. Stefan Attendance: 12 Present (Fr. Stefan, Diane Baldyga, Margaret Brozek, Barbara Kelleher, Dick Kelleher, Carol Mastalerz, Sally Mastalerz, Lydia McKee, Victoria Miner, Donna Olearczyk, Fred Orszulak, Tom Schultz, John Yurkunas): 6 excused (John Fox, Tom Losaw, Carol Mastalerz, Mark MacDougall, Luke Roberts, Joe Brozek) ~ The board nominated and voted for a new Chairman and Vice Chairman. John Yurkunas was elected Chairman, and Fred Orszulak Vice Chairman. ~ A discussion was held regarding how many times the parish council is required to meet. Father said the recommendation is a minimum of 3 times a year, and maximum of once a month. OLD BUSINESS: ~ Father Stefan signed the papers for the sale of St. Anne s on September. 18th. A lower price was accepted, for the Church and property, because of the considerable expense connected with keeping the building (insurance, property taxes, maintenance). ~ A suggestion was made at the last meeting that a notice be put in the bulletin for names of active duty military servicemen and women who are parishioners and family members of parishioners. A banner could be made displaying their names, reminding all parishioners to pray for their safety, and safe return to their homes and families. A notice will be put in the bulletin to gather names. Perhaps a parishioner would like to fashion the banner. ~ Father suggested wishing parishioners a Happy Birthday in the bulletin, as well. NEW BUSINESS: ~ The picnic committee will be meeting soon. Tickets have been ordered. ~ There are 28 students being confirmed this year. ~Envelopes for the coming year have been ordered. ~ John Yurkunas asked if every member could come to the next meeting with one idea to increase the spirituality of our parish. ~Father recommended that, because of the changeover in leadership of the Parish Council, and fewer number of meetings that were held this year, the board members terms be extended by one year expiring one year later than previously. ~ Father said a place must be found for the St. Anne Anniversary Quilt that was put together many years ago by each parish organization, and many parish families. It was framed, and previously hung in the St. Anne parish hall. A suggestion was made that it be placed on the stage in the school, against the back wall. Motion was made to adjourn. Seconded and passed. Closing prayer was led by Father Stefan Divine Mercy Parish Three Rivers, Massachusetts May 18, 2014 Page 8

How to Tell the Weather To tell the weather, go to your back door and look for the dog. If the dog is at the door and he is wet, it s probably raining. But if the dog is standing theree really soaking wet, It s probably raining really hard. If the dog's fur looks like it's been rubbed it's probably windy. the wrong way, If the dog has snow on his back, it s probably snowing. Of course, to be able to tell the weather like this, you have to leave the dog outside all the time, especially if you expect bad weather. Sincerely, The CAT Page 12
