PARISH CHOIR The choir, under the direction of Parish Organist & Music Director Bruce Coon, meets for rehearsal on Thursday nights at 6 PM in the choir loft. Day 4 of Lent: Why do we call it Lent? The English word for Lent comes from the Anglo-Saxon word "Lencten" meaning "Spring." This signifies the time period in which Lent and Easter fall. The English word Lent can also be derived from the Old German word of "Lenzin" meaning "long," and refers to the "lengthening of days." Some historians interpret this as the days lengthening as Spring approaches, and can also be applied to our attempt to "lengthen" our spirituality during Lent, a time when we try to grow in our faith and dedication to our Lord. If you would like to receive daily reflections, call Jenn in the Parish Office at 401-348-8765 to get signed up with Flocknote. STAFF Rev. Kenneth J. Suibielski, Pastor Rev. No special training or biblical knowledge is needed, only the openness to understand better what God is revealing through his scripture. The group meets on the first and third Tuesdays of the month in the classroom of the St. Clare Parish Center. The next sessions will be on Tuesday, February 20, and March 6 and 20, from 7 PM to 8:30 PM.
