2017 Happy Fall Y all! Though the temperatures right now don t seem to indicate it, Fall is here! This is one of my favorite seasons--the beauty that God paints in his creation with the change of the colors is spectacular! We are so blessed to live in this community! Thank you God! Your children have been so busy this past month! In Sunday School in October, we will be completing our curriculum on Worship we have been focused on the seasons of the church and the liturgical colors and what they represent don t forget Green means we re in between! (ordinary time the seasons between Christmas and Easter; and Easter and Christmas); Bright white is quite a sight! (the seasons of Easter and Christmas, Holy Communion and special Sundays that represent major Christological events); Prepare to stare at purple/blue (the seasons of preparation Lent and Advent); and Have no fear! Big red is here! (the season of Pentecost the gift of the Holy Spirit and the birthday of the church). The kids are doing a wonderful job of learning what these colors mean! We will be spending some time this month finishing up this curriculum, painting a stole for Pastor Mark, and preparing for a special Children s Sabbath on October 29. On that Sunday, the children will help to lead in the 11am service by serving as the liturgist, acolytes, and ushers. What a wonderful way to wrap up our lessons on what we do in worship and why we do it! Please mark this date on your calendars! I would love for all the children to participate if possible! Guess what? There are only 13 Sundays until Christmas Eve! Whether that strikes fear in your heart or excitement in your soul it s the truth! After polling all the parents, the Children s Ministry will be presenting a Christmas program to the congregation on Sunday, December 17 at 3pm on the stage in the MAC. This is going to be a program about all the visitors to the manger Mary and Joseph, the angels, the shepherds and the wise men! Because this is such a busy time of year, we are planning a no stress, no fuss Christmas program we just want to meet Jesus in the manger, have a great time and sing and laugh together. We are planning a dessert reception following the program so we can have a time of fellowship together. Please plan to come details will be coming in the months ahead! We have two major events coming up for the children, and I am really excited about all they have been doing and will do for Jesus! I hope you will make every effort to have them present in Sunday school, Children s Church and Fundamentals. Have an amazing month! Blessings! Children s Church (meeting @ 11:00 a.m.) We will be focusing each week on an aspect of our feelings. We will talk about feeling good about ourselves, and help the kids to appreciate they re unique individuals created in God s image. Then we will talk about our fears and tears, and help the kids learn God s comforting presence can be with them through scary and sad situations. Next, we will encounter temptation and help the kids realize the importance of avoiding temptation. Lastly the frustrating conversation about when life is not fair - we will help the kids trust that God is in control even when life seems unfair. We are emotional creatures - God made us this way - He also helps us deal with all our feelings! FUNdamentals (meeting Wednesdays @ 6:00 p.m.) We finished up our curriculum on giving by making shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child! We each made a shoebox for a child, and we can t wait to see where they are delivered! In October and the beginning of November, we will be in a Fall Festival theme! We will be talking about how God wants us to invite our friends to church; how if we focus on Jesus we can do amazing things; about how important it is to focus on serving and loving others and not our position in God s Kingdom; and how God wants us to help others whenever we are needed.
