Be Filled With The Holy Spirit Scripture Reference: Materials needed: Preparation: Central Truth: Acts 19:2 Two clear plastic cups, pennanent magic marker, and a pitcher of water. Punch holes in one cup with a nail, and write the word SIN on it. Write JESUS on the other cup. Put about one inch of water in the bottom of the Jesus cup. Salvation and the baptism in the Holy Spirit are two separate experiences. Object Lesson: Boys and girls, I have two cups here. Let's pretend that each cup represents a person who has not been filled with the Holy Spirit. (Pour the water into the Jesus cup so that it fills up and overflows.) Praise the Lord! God wants us to be filled with Him. This person (hold up the SIN cup) doesn't have Jesus in his heart. His heart is full of sin. Even if the Holy Spirit came upon this person, his spirit could not receive it, because it is full of sin. ( Pour water into the SIN cup; water should leak out through the holes in the bottom of the cup.) (Hold up the JESUS cup.) This person has Jesus in their heart, so they are ready to be filled with the Holy Spirit. This person is born again. He already has a measure of the Holy Spirit, but is not filled with the Holy Spirit. When you are baptized in the Holy Spirit, you are filled with the Holy Spirit to overflowing. 52

Yourheartmightdealwith you to tell somebody about Jesus; but you're too chicken. Have you ever been chicken to witness for Jesus before? Then start speaking in tongues and throw the chicken across the room.) Boys and girls, the Holy Ghost will take the chicken out of you. (You may want to get the class involved by having the chicken crawl up on someones leg and let them get rid of the chicken by prayin in tongues.) (Now is a good time to give an altar call for anyone to receive the Holy Spirit.) Boys and girls, even though we've gotten rid of that chicken when we got filled with the Holy Ghost, he keeps trying to come back. (Have the chicken start to crawl up your leg.) You know when that chicken starts to come back the best way to get rid of him is to start praying in tongues, and that will remind you of who lives inside. (Start to pray in tongues.) 56
Cornelius Get Blasted Scripture Reference: Acts 10 Bible Story: There was a certain man Who loved God and his name was Cornelius: He was a very devout man, but he. was a Gentile. He was not Jewish. One day when he was praying he had a vision. In his vision an angel of the Lord told him to send some servants to get a certain man called Peter. He told Cornelius where Peter would be and that Peter would answer questions for Cornelius. So when Cornelius arose he sent men to go get Peter. The next day when Peter was praying he also saw a vision. He saw what appeared like a table cloth filled with four footed beasts, and creeping things, and birds. A voice said to Peter to "kill and eat". But Peter said, "No, for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean." Now we must understand one thing here. Peter was a Jew and there were strict guidelines as to what he could eat and not eat. The things that he saw on the cloth were things that under Jewish law he shouldn't eat. They were considered "common" or "unclean". The voice spoke to Peter again and said, "What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy." After this Peter was very unsure about what he had just experienced. While he was thinking about the vision the spirit said to him that there were three men who were seeking him. He was to get up and go with them. Just as this occurred three men came to the house Peter was staying at. He got up and went with them. When they arrived at Cornelius' home there was quite a gathering. Peter and Cornelius began to talk. Peter shared with Cornelius how it was unlawful for Peter, who was Jewish, to be with him. Cornelius was of anothernationality and Peter shouldn't even be visiting or seen with him. But through the vision that Peter had, the Lord showed him that God is no respecter of persons. Then Peter asked Cornelius what he wanted. Cornelius shared with Peter how he loved the Lord and wanted what ever the Lord had given to Peter to share with them. Peter began to share the gospel with Cornelius and his whole house. As he did the Holy Ghost fell on everybody which heard and they began to speak in other tongues also. Those who came with Peter were amazed. These were Gentiles. But they knew they had received the gift of the Spirit because they heard them speak in other tongues. This was all new to Peter. Jesus had told them to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Did Jesus mean everyone? This was a sign to Peter and the others that Gentiles could receive from God. This event broke the mind set that they had. They were to go to the nations to present the gospel, but until now no one had left Isreal or Samaria. It is not unlike the mind set of some Christian leaders in our day and time. Some think that children cannot receive from God. What God is telling us with this story is that whoever believes can receive all they want from God. You only have to believe. 5 9
