Dear Fisherville Family, Thank you, thank you, thank you, for being so good to me and my family. Remember, THE BEST IS YET TO COME! Love you all, Bro. Jack & Marcia P.S. May I leave the words to one of my songs with you? KEEP YOUR EYES ON JESUS Some put their eyes on a preacher, Some put their eyes on a church. Some put their eyes on a denomination, And others on their good works. But keep your eyes on Jesus, He will never let you down. Keep your eyes on Jesus my friend, And you ll stand on solid ground. Some put their eyes on a sermon, Some put their eyes on a song. Some put their eyes on their ministry, And others just follow along. But keep your eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of faith. Keep your eyes on Jesus, my friend, And you ll run a victorious race. Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart The Lord does not require us to give thanks. He invites us to do so. The Levitical thanksgiving offering was an optional offering, to be made only as an expression of true thankfulness. (Leviticus 7:12-13) I remember teaching our children to say thank you after receiving some gift or act of kindness from someone. I also remember as a child being told to say thank you when I would rather have just grabbed and run off with the offered gift. But, as I grew to sometimes be a gift giver, I realized just how important those thank-you expressions really are. As we approach the official Thanksgiving holiday, remember: Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. (James 1:17) We have much to be thankful for. Bro. John Bills just stopped by my office and shared a verse from Mark 14:8, where Jesus commends the woman who broke her alabaster vial of perfume and poured it over Jesus head. Mark tells us that Jesus said, She has done what she could. Would He say the same of us? Will we accept His invitation to offer a special thanksgiving offering as a contribution to the LORD? (Leviticus 7:14) May your hearts be grateful for the good and perfect gift, after all, He gave us His Son. Dr. Gary Redding
