Please call or see Tony (276-676-2563) and let him know where you can assist that day: Greeters, Set-up, Clean-up, Food Preparation, Waiters for tables, Decorations and table hosts. With many folks pitching in we are going to have a great day to thank our law enforcement personnel.

APRIL 17 11:00am Worship That s All I Want Psalm 23 Revelation 7:9-17 Rev. Mike Poole 6:00pm 3F Food, Fellowship & Food for Thought Becky Willis Greetings from Pastor Mike Poole... What a joy to be serving as Intentional Interim Minister of Abingdon Baptist Church. God has called us together for this time in both of our journeys. I am getting settled in a suitable townhouse which will be home away from home until the Lord completes our work. Normal weeks, I will arrive in Abingdon by 1:00 p.m. Wednesdays. I will work hard through Sunday afternoons, then depart for Richmond. Since today is Monday, I m writing from Richmond. This past Sunday during worship the congregation and I shared an installation reading that highlights our work together. Among other things, the congregation agrees to select a Transition Team that will lead the process. The Transition Team s job will be to engage congregational participation during each of the self identity studies and they will keep you informed throughout. This week, all ABC members will receive a letter asking for their participation. PRAY this is a time of discerning God s direction. Begin praying that the Lord will bring to your mind the names of people who are trusted, respected, prayerful, spiritually wise, faithful attendee and contributor, able to speak for groups within the congregation (but not representatives from any group.) TT members must be mature, respectful, open to considering differing perspectives without alienation. On Sundays of April 10, 17 and 24 the selection process will be explained and prayed over during worship. Wednesday nights will be used for specific prayer as well. Although several weeks will be required to gather the names, each member should submit one and only one list with up to five names. Look for the letter. It will explain further steps and provide a schedule for the next month. I sense that the church is eager to move forward with the work. Prayerful patience will indeed be a virtue throughout the entire process. By selecting an effective Transition Team, you will reach a critical milestone in this wilderness journey. Pastor Mike, IIM
