Greetings in the Matchless and Magnificent Name of Jesus the Christ, I am grateful to all of the delegates, instructors, friends, and visitors that have set aside their time to share in this Fifth Annual Session of the Greater Louisiana Baptist Convention and Congress of Christian Education, here in the city of Ruston, Louisiana, on the historical campus of Grambling State University. I am thankful and excited about your commitment to study the Word of God, and become a better disciple of Jesus Christ during this Congress, for truly your reward awaits you. As we continue to proclaim the Word of God with zeal and passion, this Convention and Congress will produce disciples that are willing to heed the call of God and witness a spiritual awakening within our communities, our country, and even in our churches. As God s children, we must not conform to the secular ideas of this world, but we must continually be about our Father s business of spiritually transformation. Our commitment to the National Convention will continue, as we embrace the theme for the next five years, Envisioning the Future, Exceptionally, focusing on making disciples for Christ (Matthew 16:24-25). We are thanking God for the prayers and preparation done to ensure a great annual session. It is my prayer that you faithfully attend and share in the classes, worship experiences, and other events planned for our spiritual enrichment. Ministering to the Masses that matter to the Master, Leo D. Cyrus, Sr. Leo D. Cyrus, Sr. Convention President, C O N V E N T I O N P R E S I D E N T 4 P a g e

C O N G R E S S O F C H R I S T I A N E D U C A T I O N P R E S I D E N T Greetings to GLBC family. I greet every one of you in the name of Jesus the Christ! It is through Him that we live, move and have our being. We meet once again here in Grambling, LA on the campus of one of this world s greatest historical Black colleges Grambling State University. Thank you for being a supporter of and participant in Christian Education. One of the most misinterpreted text in Scripture is Matthew 28:18-19 Go ye therefore ad make disciples. The text is not about evangelism (reaching the lost) but it s a command to make disciples. Discipleship has to do with a young, immature believer being mentored, taught, nurtured, and nourished into a mature believer. A disciple should be identified by his life living in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ; his labor operating in his spiritual gift(s) to the glory of God and edification to the body of Christ; his love love for God, His word, work and witness and loving one another. Therefore, it is our Congress of Christian Education intention to partner with President Cyrus and the GLBC family to help make disciples this week through the classes that are scheduled to be taught by some of the most gifted instructors who have committed themselves to prayer, preparation and presenting the word of God in a manner that all students may be inspired to grow up to the head which is Christ Jesus. This week, under new leadership with President Leo D. Cyrus, Dean Greg Oliver and yours truly, we are blessed that you ve come to connect with us. May God bless this fellowship this week and may your life, family and church family be encouraged, enlightened and exhilarated! Your Servant-leader, Ricky Carter Ricky E. Carter, President Congress of Christian Education 5 P a g e
