How may we come to the Lord s Table and be certain that his grace is truly conferred to us in this sacrament? Faithful guides who have gone before us can help to point the way. The Westminster Confession of Faith advises us that: Worthy receivers, outwardly partaking of the visible elements, in this sacrament, do then also, inwardly by faith, really and indeed.... spiritually, receive and feed upon, Christ crucified, and all benefits of His death. Worthy receivers are those who come with a sense of their need and with their hope and trust placed not in themselves but in the finished work of Christ on the cross. We do not try to manufacture virtue or pretend but we look to the virtues and mercy of our Savior. The Confession further goes on to assure us that these things -- Christ crucified and all the benefits of his death:... are yet, as really, but spiritually, present to the faith of believers in that ordinance, as the elements themselves are to their outward senses. Our minds become awake and our hearts and souls grasp growing hope in God s salvation, certainty that God is for us, resolve to be completely his and assurance that we are God s children. Bill Douglas, Pastor WELCOME VISITORS We are glad to have you as our guest! As we seek to bring glory to our Father together, we welcome you to join any or all of the events and ministry activities at St. Andrews. We invite you to worship God with us, to find us as a place for encouragement and fellowship, and to become a part of this church. We invite you to tell us who you are and let us get to know you, as you get to know and become more familiar with us. The back of the program has the office phone number and email addresses for the staff. God has moved you to come to worship him. We are honored that you are here.

April 22, 2018 Communion Sunday Preaching: Dr. Jim Carter, Executive Director of the Presbyterian Reformed Chaplain Corps Leading in Worship: Bill Douglas & Michael Stewart Songs of Ascent Tender Mercy Hear my cry for mercy as I call to You, As I lift my hands in Spirit and in Truth: Chorus: We cry mercy (in the name of the Father most Holy), We cry mercy (in the name of the Son Who was slain), Lord have mercy (in the name of the Spirit indwelling), Tender mercy Lord! You are mercy (in the name of the Father most Holy), You are mercy (in the name of the Son Who was slain), Lord have mercy (in the name of the Spirit indwelling), Tender mercy Lord! In Your tender mercy brought by grace through faith, I will lift my heart toward Your most Holy place: (Chorus) We cry mercy, We cry mercy, We cry mercy Tender mercy Lord, Tender mercy Lord!

God of My Life God of my life, to Thee I call; afflicted, at Thy feet I fall; When the great water floods prevail leave not my trembling heart to fail! Poor tho I am, despised, forgot, yet God, my God, forgets me not; And he is safe, and must succeed, for whom the Lord is sure to plead. Friend of the friendless and the saint, where should I lodge my deep complaint? Where but with Thee, whose open door invites the helpless and the poor! Poor tho I am, despised, forgot, yet God, my God, forgets me not; And he is safe, and must succeed, for whom the Lord is sure to plead. Did ever mourner plead with Thee, and Thou refuse that mourner s plea? Does not the Word still fixed remain that none shall seek Thy face in vain? Poor tho I am, despised, forgot, yet God, my God, forgets me not; And he is safe, and must succeed, for whom the Lord is sure to plead. That were a grief I could not bear, didst Thou not hear and answer prayer; But a prayer hearing, answering God supports me under every load. Poor tho I am, despised, forgot, yet God, my God, forgets me not; And he is safe, and must succeed, for whom the Lord is sure to plead. His Mercy is More What love could remember no wrongs we have done? Omniscient, all knowing, He counts not their sum. Thrown into a sea without bottom or shore. Our sins they are many, His mercy is more Chorus: Praise the Lord! His mercy is more! Stronger than darkness, new every morn; Our sins they are many, His mercy is more! What patience would wait as we constantly roam, What Father, so tender, is calling us home. He welcomes the weakest, the vilest, the poor. Our sins they are many, His mercy is more (Chorus) What riches of kindness he lavished on us; His blood was the payment, His life was the cost. We stood 'neath a debt we could never afford. Our sins they are many, His mercy is more (Chorus)

Call to Worship (From Psalm 118 ) Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! Let Israel say, His steadfast love endures forever. Let the house of Aaron say, His steadfast love endures forever. Let those who fear the Lord say, His steadfast love endures forever. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes. The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. Glad songs of salvation are in the tents of the righteous: The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is the Lord's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Holy Hands Not what my hands have done can save my guilty soul; Not what my toiling flesh has borne can make my spirit whole. Not what I feel or do can give me peace with God; Not all my prayers and sighs and tears can bear my awful load. Chorus: These guilty hands are raised, filthy rags are all I bring, And I have come to hide beneath Your wings. These holy hands are raised, washed in the fountain of Your grace, And now I wear Your righteousness. Thy work alone, O Christ, can ease this weight of sin; Thy blood alone, O Lamb of God, can give me peace within. Thy love to me, O God, not mine, O Lord, to Thee Can rid me of this dark unrest and set my spirit free. (Chorus) Thy grace a lone, O God, to me can pardon speak; Thy power alone, O Lamb of God, can this sore bondage break. No other work save Thine, no other blood will do, No strength save that which is divine can bear me safely through. (Chorus) I praise the God of grace, I trust His truth and might; He calls me His, I call Him mine: my God, my joy, my light. Tis He who saveth me and freely pardon gives. I love because He loveth me; I live because He lives. (Chorus) The Lord be with you And also with you.

Prayers of Invocation O God, in this life there is no comfort, peace or joy in anything apart from enjoying you and being engaged in service to your Name. Make me to be well pleased with your will, whatever it is and where you set before me the decisions of life set also within me the purpose to refer all to your wise, perfect direction. I rejoice to think that all things are at your disposal, and it delights me to leave them there. I know that you are the author and finisher of faith, that the whole work of redemption is yours alone, that every good work or thought found in me is the effect of your power and grace. Now turn my mind, heart and will to the worship of your Name and make me alive within by the work of the Comforter, my great Helper and source of goodness. All prayers are in the name of the One who was, is and is to come, Jesus Christ my sure Redeemer. Amen Hymn # 469 How Sweet and Awesome Is the Place How sweet and awesome is the place with Christ with-in the doors, While ever lasting love displays the choicest of her stores. While all our hearts and all our songs join to admire the feast, Each of us cries, with thankful tongue, Lord why was I a guest? Why was I made to hear your voice, and enter while there s room, When thousands make a wretched choice, and rather starve than come? Twas the same love that spread the feast that sweetly drew us in; Else we had still refused to taste, and perished in our sin. Pity the nations, O our God, constrain the earth to come; Send your victorious Word abroad, and bring the strangers home. We long to see your churches full, that all the chosen race May, with one voice and heart and soul sing your redeeming grace. Admission to Sealing Ordinances Will Clickner

Prayers of Intercession For All The Saints For all the saints who from their labors rest, Who thee by faith before the world confessed, They name O Jesus, be forever blest, Alleluia! Alleluia! Thou wast their rock their fortress and their might; Thou, Lord, their Captain in the well fought fight; Thou, in the darkness drear, their one true light, Alleluia! Alleluia! O may thy soldiers faithful, true, and bold, Fight as the saints who nobly fought of old, And win with them the victor s crown of gold. Alleluia! Alleluia! Offering (At this time, the Pre K4 and Kindergarten children are invited to meet their leaders at the back of the sanctuary for Children s Church.) Scripture Lesson Philippians 4:10-13 10 I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. 11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Sermon Prayers of Confession Sacrament of The Lord s Supper For All The Saints The golden evening brightens in the west; Soon, soon to faithful warriors comes their rest; Sweet is the calm of paradise the blest, Alleluia! Alleluia! But lo! There breaks a yet more glorious day; The saints triumphant rise in bright array; The King of glory passes on his way, Alleluia! Alleluia! Benediction Nunc Dimittis For All The Saints From earth s wide bound, from ocean s farthest coast, Through gates of pearl streams in the countless host, Singing to Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, Alleluia! Alleluia!
