On Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at 6:35 AM, I think the Lord spoke to me. Occasionally, the Holy Spirit talks to me as soon as I wake up from sleep. In that brief moment, my mind is a blank slate. He likes to catch me before I start talking! Max & Sherry Greiner started their fine art business in the spring of 1978, and published their first Art Newsletter in the fall of 1979. The Holy Spirit instructed me to revive the ART NEWSLETTER idea He gave me 30 years ago. In the spring of 1978, Sherry and I moved back to Texas from California, to start our own fine art business, near the small east Texas town of Woodville. I was 27 and Sherry was 26 at the time. God gave me the idea to create a full color, ART NEWSLETTER. No other individual artist had ever done

this before, because of the expense of four color printing. Here are the opening sentences from that original four page ART NEWSLETTER, which we mailed out just before Christmas in 1979: This is the first issue of an idea. To our knowledge, we are trying something which has never been done before on this scale by an individual artist. My wife, Sherry and I hope to publish this Newsletter four times a year in full color, for friends, interested individuals and clients. The purpose of the Newsletter is to provide an informative, up-to-date, and yet entertaining perspective on my art. Our Newsletter will feature personal essays related to the esthetic and the technical aspects of my art. Color photography will introduce my new artwork and show art projects in progress. We decided to publish this Newsletter as one of our primary means of exhibiting and marketing my work; especially since we elected not to become involved with any galleries at this time in my career. This Newsletter and marketing concept are a great experiment for us. Hopefully, the Newsletter will be stimulating and of value to you. When Sherry and I mailed out this Newsletter in the fall of 1979, we only had $40 left and had obligated ourselves to a $1,500 printing bill. I remember we laid hands on the pile of less than 500 stamped Newsletters and prayed something like: Lord, we believe You called me to be an artist. We have done all we know to do. It is now up to You. If You want me to be a professional artist, You will have to make this work, because we are out of money! In August of 2008, Franklin Graham presented The Empty Cross 24 bronze to the VicePresident of North Korea. Graham previously had prayed for the success of the Kerrville Sculpture Prayer Garden, with Max and Sherry. (Samaritan s Samar Samaritan s Purse Photo) In April of 2008, Dr. James Dobson prayed over the Sculpture Prayer Garden in Kerrville, Texas. He asked God to allow him to be at the dedication someday in the future, upon completion. Dr. Luis Palau prayed with Max for the evangelistic success and completion of the Sculpture Prayer Garden in Kerrville, during a crusade in June of 2007.

God answered that simple prayer dramatically. Within 48 hours, we sold over $15,000 worth of my art! All the original artwork in this first ART NEWSLETTER sold! Sherry and I were stunned. My art career was launched! Over the next seven years, God greatly blessed the work of our hands. Eventually, my original drawings were selling for up to $3,000, each while my oil paintings reached $8,000 in price. My annual wildlife bronze sculptures actually began to sell out from my Preliminary Drawing, even before I created the sculpture! Everything was great! However, we soon learned that life has a way of taking turns you don t expect. In December of 2001, God used Dr. Mahesh Chavda to call Max and Sherry out of an audience in Austin, TX. He proclaimed that God would use Max to Restore the Tabernacle, using his artwork and the help of other Christians. This photo was taken six years later, in December of 2007 at Cathedral of Praise Church, in Austin, TX. In the autumn of 1985, we published our last ART NEWSLETTER because the Texas economy crashed. About 95% of our art collectors went bankrupt. Most were millionaires and one was a billionaire. Everyone instantly stopped buying my art. This threw our little business into a tail spin, Dr. Chuck Pierce, a Texas Aggie like Max, prayed as we were suddenly unable to pay our Kerrville for the artist s Sculpture Prayer Garden vision, property and mobile home notes. Our plan was to and declared that another Garden would someday be located in the Dallas area. live in a mobile home on our land, while I supervised the construction of our dream house and studio. However, our situation turned into a nightmare when we ran out of money, and Sherry and my dad were both diagnosed with life-threatening diseases. The stress even put our marriage in jeopardy. Suddenly, making art and bowhunting didn t seem very important anymore, because I was losing everything important to me. It was during this very difficult time, that the Holy Spirit spoke to me, as I pulled into our Kerrville driveway. God clearly said He wanted me to do a sculpture of Jesus washing Peter s feet. It was the spring of 1986. Even though I heard the still, small voice of God in my spirit, I chose to disobey.

Instead, of doing what God told me to do, I continued to do all the things I thought would help our desperate situation. I realized that God was trying to teach me about humility and servanthood, but I did not see how doing a small sculpture of Jesus washing feet could solve any of our serious problems. After all, I was losing my wife, my dad, my home, my land, my clients and my career. It is a painful, inspiring story, which you can read on our website and hear on our Audio Testimony CDs. To make a long story short, basically, God did some serious sculpting on me, over the next two years, to get me to look more like Jesus! God used the circumstances in my life to bring me to my knees and change my life focus. He had a plan for me and I wasn t walking in it (Jeremiah 29:11). In fact, I was walking away from it at the time, and I did not know it. However, God doesn t give up on us. He is very patient and persistent! Today, by the grace of God, I finally learned to yield to God s plan for my life. As a result, I am now walking in my destiny, and using my God-given talents, gifts and resources to bring glory and souls to Jesus Christ. Sherry and I are amazed at what God has done over the years. Back in 1978, my art focused on the creation. Today, my art and life are focused on the Creator. God has taken over our art business, and we are glad! I am still an artist, but I am also with God s Secret Service serving as an undercover evangelist! If you would like to receive future issues of this ART OF FAITH newsletter, please subscribe to this free email publication. Yes, it will be a window into the life of an American artist and his family, but it will be more than that. Yes, it will feature some of my original artwork, but it won t be a product catalog. (If you would like to see an art catalog, or want to view the full collection of my art, please contact us, or visit our website.) This ART NEWSLETTER will provide insights into my imagination, my personal philosophy and our spiritual walk with the Holy Spirit of God. Sherry, our daughter, Diana Shay, and her husband, Justin, will also help write this publication. Justin and Diana Shay both started working full time for our art business in November of 2008. Sherry and I really appreciate their help and talented efforts. So we invite you to subscribe to this free ART NEWSLETTER. Thanks for your prayers and for sharing this first issue with everyone you think might be blessed by our story. Stay tuned! The adventure continues!

NOTE: A special Ministry Gift Program is available to all 501(c)3 organizations. Back At The Ranch by Diana Shay & Justin Evans Max and Sherry live in a Passive Solar, Earth Sheltered (green) house/studio Max designed, which overlooks a canyon, at their 126 acre ranch near, Kerrville, TX. This column will be where Diana and I get the opportunity tell our side of the story. My name is Justin Evans and I am the lucky man that fooled Max s daughter in to marrying me. Diana and I have just started working out here at the ranch, and are enjoying every minute. But, before I get into how much we love working for Max and Sherry, allow me to tell ya ll how Diana and I got together. When we first met, Diana was in her last year at Texas Tech University, where she was studying Communications. I was in Corpus Christi attending Texas A&M University, studying business. Through mutual friends, and a little help from God and the internet, we began to find out about each other. After speaking for a while, we God answered another prayer for Sherry in the fall of this year, when she got to raise a baby raccoon named Chico. She says it is a lot like raising Diana Shay! realized that throughout our lives, we went to the same nursery, the same church, the same school, and even had the same friends, but had never met each other! We talked off and on for about a month before we both got some time away from school to meet in person. As you probably guessed, we started dating just a week later, and Diana and I fell in love with each other. I graduated from Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi, in August of 2006, with a Bachelors in Business Management. I also received my real estate license and began to work with my dad and brother, in the family real estate business. While working there, I managed to visit Diana almost every weekend,

while she finished up her last semester of college. Diana graduated in May of 2007 with honors from Texas Tech University, earning a Bachelors degree in Communications. Less than a week after Diana graduated, we got married in Bryan, TX, on May 18, 2007. Our small wedding took place at The Greenbranch, which is owned by Max and Sherry s lifelong bowhunting friends, Jim and Darlynne Beard. Justin Evans married Diana Shay Greiner, the only child of Max and Sherry on May 18, 2007, at the Greenbranch, owned by good friends, Jim and Darlynne Beard of College Station, TX. Diana and I then moved to Dallas, where I was promised a great job selling medical devices to hospitals. For a few months I tried to break into the medical field only to be disappointed. Dallas didn t work out, so we moved to Boerne, TX, where I was the Area Manager for a medical device company. I worked at this the job for a few months only to be disappointed again. With our heads down, we moved back to Kerrville, where I started working with my dad and brother selling real estate. As you know, the real estate market took a nose dive. Diana and I quickly ran out of money! Seeing our situation, Max and Sherry, offered us a job working at their art business. Diana and I prayed about the opportunity. God clearly showed me while reading my Bible that He wanted us both to take the jobs, so we did! That pretty much brings you up to date! Diana and I love working with each other and building a business we care so much about. We both want to grow the art business. We are also volunteers with The Coming King Foundation, to help build Sculpture Prayer Gardens for Jesus Christ around the world. The first Garden is located here in Kerrville, TX. It has been 7 years, since Max received a prophecy from Mahesh Chavda, which said he would restore the Tabernacle! The Sculpture Prayer Garden will feature world class Christian art by various artists. As you walk through the cross shaped garden, you will see scriptures, written on tiles every 12 feet, in multiple languages. Also, there will be many life size sculptures honoring Jesus Christ, with a giant Empty Cross at the end. The Empty Cross sculpture featured in the Kerrville Sculpture Prayer Garden will be 77 7 tall!

We are only a few months away from putting up a 77 7 Empty Cross that will communicate the Resurrection, Jesus is alive, not dead! But, we still need about $200,000, and your prayers to raise The Empty Cross in Kerrville. In 1990, Jose D. Mendoza helped Max carve the (105%) lifesize Divine Servant sculpture out of wax. Please visit The Coming King Foundation website for more information: www.thecomingkingfoundation.org Working at the ranch with the Greiners, and my wife, has been a wonderful experience. I hope we are here for a very long time. I enjoy telling people about Jesus and serving them through our undercover ministry/art business. I really love to see all the new art Max is creating, like the Lion of Judah. This sculpture composition features an African lion, on top of a base, which has the Ten Jose D. Mendoza started working with the Greiners in 1988, at the age of 22. He has been a faithful friend and employee during his 20 years of service. Jose prays over all the Greiner creations before they ship out. Commandments, the names of God, and various scripture verses carved into it. Another one of Max s newest designs, and a personal favorite, is his Sword of the Spirit. This 57, life-size sword is a replica of the one Jesus is holding in Max s sculpture The Coming King. Now, let me tell you about everyone else here at the ranch. Sherry, Max s wife, received a new edition to her ever growing zoo, a baby raccoon named Chico! His mother was killed by a car. Sherry rescued the baby raccoon, and after a visit to the vet, Chico is now part of the family. As you might know, Sherry has a strong love for animals. Her wild pets include deer, turkey, squirrels, porcupines, rabbits, and doves! We also recently celebrated Jose D. Mendoza s 20th anniversary working for the Greiners! Jose has been with Max since he was 22 years old, and has been a huge part of Max Greiner, Jr. Designs growth and success. Jose helps Max with his different art designs, from the smallest 1/24 life-size Divine Servant to the 18 tall, 5,000 lbs The Coming King bronze sculpture! Working behind the scenes, Jose is an invaluable part of the team!

Diana and I also have started our own little family! We now have two dogs named Gibson and Sophie. Both dogs are Goldendoodles that t we got from a breeder in Georgia. Goldendoodles are a cross breed between a Golden Retreiver and a Poodle. Gibson, our one year old, is the best dog both of us have ever owned. Sophie is a two month old puppy that looks like an angel, but isn t one! Both of these dogs bring so much joy to our lives. We both agree there is nothing better than a Goldendoodle! A Day at the Beach: Diana Shay and Gibson the Goldendoodle, joined the Evans family in July of 2008. Thank you for taking the time to read our first article. Stay tuned to hear more about what goes on Back at the Ranch! Back Tracking by This column provides historical look back at the life of an American artist. Years:1951-1957 (Age 0 to 6) This Back Tracking column will take a look back at my creative life, from the very beginning to the present. If you have ever wondered if artists are born or made, this column may eventually answer the question for you, as I share my own story. After graduation from the Architecture College at Texas A&M University in 1974, Alan Stacell, the head of the Environmental Design program told me that I had as much natural, artistic talent as God had ever given anyone. However, he then said it was up to me as to what I would do with this talent, during my lifetime. Professor, Rodney Hill also gave me the same encouragement, using different words. These two college professors, more than any others, inspired me to not waste the natural talent that God had given me. I will forever be grateful to them for this encouragement, at a critical time in my life.

However, this story actually starts on an Air Force base in Warner Robins, GA, on December 16, 1951. Yes, I was actually born as a little baby, and did not come here from another planet, as some people think! I heard from a stranger, who after reading my testimony on our website, said that I was a Mutant for Christ! I think that was a complement? I was the first-born child, of what would eventually be four children, born to Max G. Greiner and Bobbie Sue (Cain) Greiner. My father was in the service at the time, having graduated from Texas A&M University, with a business degree. My dad was a famous Aggie football star, who lettered all four years at TAMU. He garnered the respect of many people throughout his life because of his positive spirit and tenacity. After completing his time in the service, my parents moved back to Houston, and then Beaumont, TX, where my dad entered the financial profession. He would accomplish much good during his lifetime. Max Jr., (age 3), with his dad and a big bass caught in his grandfather s pond in Houston. I was greatly blessed to have wonderful, Godly parents. Only after I was grown, did I realize how blessed I was. I later learned that not all children have loving parents, who encourage and nurture them. Mom and Dad also introduced me to God. My first church was Calder Baptist Church in Beaumont, TX. My spiritual roots are Southern Baptist, going back at least four generations, on both sides of my family. Max Jr., (age 4), holds his first Bible before church, in Beaumont Texas. My parents told me, that as a very young child, I was always able to entertain myself, when there was no one else to play with! I can remember that my favorite toys were building blocks, Lincoln Logs, clay and water based paints. I got a football and base ball, but never really figured out what to do with them!

Thankfully, I had the type of parents who encouraged their children to pursue their own natural gifts and interests. They exposed us to many good things, but ultimately let us follow our natural paths. This is what a young artist needs to thrive, and I thank God for parents that created this healthy environment for me and my siblings. Max Jr. (age 5) and his younger sister, Carol Sue, celebrated Christmas in 1956 with their new little brother, Mark Stephen. Thank you for sharing this Art Newsletter with others! Sherry & Max Greiner, Jr. FINAL NOTE: If you would like to know God personally or experience His miracles like the Greiners, please request the brochure, Where Will You Be In 1000 Years? You can also find it on the Greiner website under: God Stuff.
