Thursday 13 th December 2012. Starry Night - Guiding Star 7 Talk By Sister Eman Al Obaid. www.alhudasisters.wordpress.com 1 st Star The start is upon you. 2 nd Star - wahidin li wahidin al tariqa al wahidin Be one for one Master. 3 rd Star What is with Allah subhana wa ta'ala will be, what is not with Allah subhana wa ta'ala will not be. 4 th Star To be grateful 5 th Star - Yawmuki Yawmuki - 'Your day is your day' 6 th Star - Wa laysu ka baytuka - Your house, which is sufficient for you. The way to Allah subhana wa ta'ala, the journey to Allah subhana wa ta'ala needs guiding stars. The way to Allah subhana wa ta'ala is a long way but on the way, from Kalamullah there are guiding stars which you need all the time in order to reach to your destination. Your destination is that Allah subhana wa ta'ala is pleased with you. RidwanAllah is your goal. RidwanAllah, if Allah subhana wa ta'ala is pleased with you Allah subhana wa ta'ala will give you all the best in the dunya and the akhirah. As Sadiq Habibullah As Sadiq the one who is truthful is beloved to Allah subhana wa ta'ala. No one does not want to be part of that. Don t you want to be HabibAllah? Uqtiyl Aliyah As Sadiq the Truthfulness 1

What do you need? What are your wishes? Do you want to enter Paradise? Do you want to enter Paradise and Allah subhana wa ta'ala to be pleased with you or do you want to have a better life or amass great wealth? Don t answer this question now: Do you want the dunya or do you want the akhirah? Right now we may not be able to give the true and correct answer. We may say we want the akhirah or we may say we want both, the dunya and the akhirah. Don t answer now because the answer is very significant, we don t want to utter something which we don t believe in 100%. I don t want to say something which I am not really truthful about. The matter of dunya and akhirah, the Pleasure of Allah or the pleasure of the people is: The one busy and occupied with his dunya, his dunya is affecting his akhirah. And the one who is busy and occupied with his akhirah, his work for the akhirah will affect the work of the dunya. The love of the dunya and the akhirah in the heart, cannot be together in the heart. The heart is a place for one thing. The matter of dunya and akhirah, the Pleasure of Allah or the pleasure of the people are opposites they cannot be together. When you know this question, you really need to feel Do I really want the akhirah, do I really want the Pleasure of Allah? As Sadiq The Truth. Don t lie against yourself. Don t say I really love Allah subhana wa ta'ala and you are disobeying Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Don t say I want the Pleasure of Allah and Allah subhana wa ta'ala is not pleased with you. Before you say anything, before you claim anything about yourself, before you ascribe anything to yourself, say as sadiq, as sadiq. 2

We want to know about the truthfulness. As Sidqu huwa Islam the truthfulness is Islam. The Truthfulness huwa at Taqwa. unless you are truthful. You will not really be a Muslim unless you are truthful. You will not be muttaqeen Chapter (39) sūrat l-zumar (The Groups) 39:33 And the one who has brought the truth and [they who] believed in it - those are the righteous. Allah subhana wa ta'ala associated the sud q with the taqwa. Chapter (2) sūrat l-baqarah (The Cow) 2:177 Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous. As sadiq huwa Islam, the truthfulness is the taqwa. May Allah subhana wa ta'ala make us among As Sadiqeen because the sid q means those who are among the Muslimeen and the Muttaqeen. The sidiq, the truthfulness is different levels. The most honourable one is Sidiq al Azmi the Truthfulness of Determination. Al Az u - You have the determination. You are not just busy with utterances of the tongue, you have the determination. 3

Chapter (47) sūrat muḥammad 47:21 Obedience and good words. And when the matter [of fighting] was determined, if they had been true to Allah, it would have been better for them. Obedience and good words. Do you really understand this ayah. Do you have the desire, the will or wish to enter Paradise? Do you have the desire to establish the night prayer, to make dhikr, to acquire knowledge or to do good deeds? Everyone will say yes. You can see people listening to the good words and saying the good words they say it is good and I want it And when the matter [of fighting] was determined, When the time comes to apply what they say nobody is there. You need determination. Nothing can work without determination. If they are truthful with Allah subhana wa ta'ala Sidiq al Azmi Allah subhana wa ta'ala will bring the means to you. Are you really fulfilling what you say? Are you really being truthful? Sidiq al Azmi You need to have the determination. There is an eagerness with the determination. Chapter (24) sūrat l-nūr (The Light) 24:53 And they swear by Allah their strongest oaths that if you ordered them, they would go forth [in Allah's cause]. Say, "Do not swear. [Such] obedience is known. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with that which you do." They will all give an oath. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will say to them don t give oaths and promises of obedience. It is easy to listen to the good words, very easily we like it, very easily we are uttering the words and saying the good. But in the time you need to do you see who is the real sadiqeen. This ayah is one of the ayats called: 4

Al Ayat Faaziha the ayat which expose the hearts, reveals what the person has in the heart. These ayat s expose the munafiqeen (hypocrites). We don t feel afraid to be far from the nifaq (hypocrisy). The sahabah were afraid to be among the munafiqeen. May Allah subhana wa ta'ala protect us from the nifaq. These Ayat s al Faaziha you cannot say something without proving it, you need to have the determination at the time. When will Allah subhana wa ta'ala make it easy for you to do it? Where are your actions? Where is your practice? Where is the thing which you were talking about? Everything in a time of good, everybody will speak good. But in the time now, the time of action, of amal, where are all the values and principles you are talking about. This is just one ayat exposing what the munafiqeen have in their hearts. Ayat s which maybe you feel is talking about you. In the time of the kalam you will see them, but in a time of seriousness, to apply and work, you will not find anybody. O Allah, conceal us, hide our sins, don t expose us. O Allah, give us the well being, don t afflict us. We ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala to give us the truthfulness. Sidiq al Azmi. We need Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Maybe I will say something I will not do, so ask Him Ya Rabbi give me Sidiq al Azmi. This needs determination. Akhtil Al iyah 5

As Sadiq Sidq al Azmi the one having truthfulness in their determination is strong, they have the complete strength. There is no incline, there is no weakness, there is no hesitation. In the time when it comes they will not hesitate, they will not be weak, they will not incline to something else. Whatever he says he will do it. This is Sidiq al Azmi. Chapter (33) sūrat l-aḥzāb (The Combined Forces) 33:23 Among the believers are men true to what they promised Allah. Among them is he who has fulfilled his vow [to the death], and among them is he who awaits [his chance]. And they did not alter [the terms of their commitment] by any alteration - Be truthful with Allah subhana wa ta'ala and have the determination. In a time when it comes I will fulfil what I said. One incident in the time of Allah subhana wa ta'ala, how were the people? Anas Ibn Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, said: My uncle Anas Ibn An-Nadhr, may Allah be pleased with him, missed the battle of Badr, so he said to the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam: O messenger of Allah, I missed the first battle that you fought against the polytheists, but if Allah allows me to participate in the next one, then He will see what I can do. Then, after the day of the battle of Uhud when the some Muslims retreated he went forth saying: O Allah I seek your forgiveness for what they have done (i.e., the Muslims for retreating) and I disassociate myself from what those have done (i.e., the polytheists for killing the Muslims), as he continued going forth, he came across Sa d Ibn Mu adh, may Allah be pleased with him, and said: O Sa d! I swear by the Lord of the tribe of An-Nadhr, it is Paradise (i.e., the reward for martyrdom). I can smell its fragrance close to Uhud. After the battle, Sa d Ibn Mu adh told the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam: I swear By Allah, on that day I could not perform as he did. Anas Ibn Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, continued: (After the battle) we found more than eighty gashes on his (i.e., Anas Ibn An-Nadhr s) body which were the result of swords, arrows and spears. In fact, the polytheists had mutilated his body so much that nobody could recognise who it was, except his sister, who identified him from his fingers. (Bukhari & Muslim). He really wanted Paradise, he is having a desire for Paradise, he wants to be with Prophet Muhammad ṣallallahu alayhi wa sallam in the Battle of Uhud. Imagine he said I can smell Paradise, I can smell Paradise. Imagine he is still alive and he said I can smell Paradise. When the time came for the battle, the people saw him fighting and fighting until he was killed. When they found his body it had been stabbed 80 times. Allah subhana wa ta'ala praised him in the Quran. 6

Chapter (33) sūrat l-aḥzāb (The Combined Forces) 33:23 Among the believers are men true to what they promised Allah. Among them is he who has fulfilled his vow [to the death], and among them is he who awaits [his chance]. And they did not alter [the terms of their commitment] by any alteration They were truthful of what they promised Allah subhana wa ta'ala. When the time came they did what they promised Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Some of them died and some are waiting, but they all never changed. Allah subhana wa ta'ala made them to feel and smell Paradise because they were truthful. You have to be truthful with yourself, don t lie to yourself. Allah subhana wa ta'ala made this person to smell Paradise because he was truthful. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will make some of the unseen revealed and apparent to him because of his truthfulness. Sidiq al Azmi - Sidq which is on the inside. We don t want to live a big lie in our life; we say we are righteous but we are not I am doing this but actually I am not We don t want to say something which we are not sure about. Don t live as if you are guided, the guidance is not only what you wear or what you do on the outside. Sometimes people think if I am wearing hijab / niqab, if I am praying the night prayer, if I am fasting etc. they think khalas, I am guided. The matter is in fact more than that, the matter is not what you are doing on the outside. The matter is what is in the heart behind this appearance. The appearance should be a reflection of what you have in your heart, but it is never the other way round. La bud - The must have, what you have in your heart penetrates the heart and goes to the outside. Don t deceive or lie to yourself. Don t lie to yourself saying that I am guided, that I am doing this and I am not. Be truthful from your heart. Be truthful with Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Whatever is in the heart should be on the outside. Don t lie to yourself, Don t deceive yourself, Don t make yourself to be something that you are not. 7

If you are truthful you will attain the victory. The opening for the victory will open for you but you need to be truthful. Don t say Allah Al Musta an (The Helper), Allah al Wakeel (The Trustee) and you are not doing anything. Some people are misusing these words. We need to rely on Allah subhana wa ta'ala, we need to make tawakkul Allah but at the same time we need to be truthful in our determination. We need to have a strong will. If Allah subhana wa ta'ala makes it easy I will do it, I will not hesitate. Don t just say Allah huwa Al Musta an (The Helper), Allah Al Wakeel (The Disposer of Affairs), and you will leave. These words need work, knowledge and worship, a connection with Allah subhana wa ta'ala. It is very easy to say on my tongue tawakkul Allah. It is very easy to say istiana billah, but this needs a lot of work. This needs a lot of obedience and a connection with Allah subhana wa ta'ala because I will not say tawakkul Allah: Until in my heart I am really, really connected to Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Until in my heart I feel Ya Rabbi, SubhanaAllah. In my heart I say that I free my heart from relying on anybody other than Allah subhana wa ta'ala. As Sidqi you will get the victory. But this needs a lot of work. You need your heart to be in a cage or behind a fence, you need to have a connection with Allah subhana wa ta'ala. As Sidq al Mujahid to be truthful to Allah subhana wa ta'ala you need to strive, you need to struggle, you need to work. 8

When you say tawakkul Allah it means I don t choose anybody over Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Don t choose over Allah subhana wa ta'ala anybody else, don t put in your heart anyone other than Allah subhana wa ta'ala. This is the truthfulness. Don t choose anybody other than Allah subhana wa ta'ala as He didn t choose anybody other than you. Imagine Allah subhana wa ta'ala choose you; Allah subhana wa ta'ala choose you to be human, Allah subhana wa ta'ala choose you to be Muslim, Allah subhana wa ta'ala choose you to be guided, Allah subhana wa ta'ala choose you to be the one to acquire the knowledge. Imagine, Allah subhana wa ta'ala choose you and Allah subhana wa ta'ala didn t choose anybody else to be in that position. You are so special, so why are you choosing somebody other than Allah subhana wa ta'ala. If Allah subhana wa ta'ala didn t choose anybody else, you are the one here. Allah subhana wa ta'ala said in the Qur an: Allah choose you, Allah subhana wa ta'ala choose you to be a human, to be a Muslim, to be a believer etc. so don t choose anybody other than Allah subhana wa ta'ala. To be Elevated More and More The best of type of sidq As Sadiq is a higher level of sidq. The best among the sidiqeen was Abu Bakr Sidiq radi-allahu anha. Allah subhana wa ta'ala and His Messenger ṣallallahu alayhi wa sallam called him As Sadiq the one who obtained the best rank in truthfulness. He was truthful in everything until he got the name As Sadiq. To be As Sadiq, this is the level we must have in our determination. The key to the As Sadiq, the highest level of truthfulness is As Sadiqa. The key to the As Sadiq is As Sadq, gradually and slowly until you reach As Sadiq. Practice the Sadq in every thing in your life, in each and every thing use the sidq. Then you will see as Prophet Muhammad ṣallallahu alayhi wa sallam said in the hadith: You have to be truthful, the truthfulness will guide you to the goodness, al birr. The goodness will make you to reach Paradise. A person will be truthful all the time - As Sadiqa will be beside your name, the Most Truthful One. The key for that is to be truthful in everything, slowly, slowly in the small things until it will be written for you that are the truthful one. 9

How will I get the truthfulness in my life? I need to have the truthfulness in everything to reach As Sadiq. People limit the sidq, they think sidq is only with the words whatever I say it is the truth. This is one part of the sadq. The truthfulness in the sayings In the akwal, whatever I will say, it will be truthful. The truthfulness in your deeds Whatever I will say or have in my heart, I should apply it. It will show in my actions, my amal to fulfil the commands and to follow Nabi ṣallallahu alayhi wa sallam. My deeds are truthful, I do exactly what I say. The truthfulness in all your conditions. Al Huwal from your heart you are truthful by having Ikhlas. You need to be sincere in your heart. You need to have determination in your heart. You need to have taqwa in your heart. May Allah subhana wa ta'ala make us among the Sidiqeen. This is a very high level we can t do it by ourselves but may Allah subhana wa ta'ala give us that. They are sadq in their kalam (words), in their actions they are truthful, and in all situations they are truthful in their heart. Don t forget As Sadiq Habib Allah. As Sadiq this is the guiding star which we need on our way to Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Remember As Sadiq Habib Allah. The one who is truthful, they are beloved to Allah subhana wa ta'ala. 10

May Allah subhana wa ta'ala make us among the Sadiqeen, Be truthful and Allah the Almighty will be truthful to you. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will be truthful to you, SubhanaAllah. May Allah subhana wa ta'ala make us among the Sadiqeen. Make the truthfulness what you ride upon, like a flying carpet. Make your sidq like your ride, it is driving you. Make your sadq your sword. You need to have the truthfulness as you ride to Allah subhana wa ta'ala and in your hand is the sword of al haqq. And make Allah subhana wa ta'ala the ultimate and most of your desires, hopes and wishes. Make Allah subhana wa ta'ala you destination, your goal. This is what we need to have. 11

The one seeking Allah subhana wa ta'ala, the Pleasure of Allah with truthfulness, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will give you a mirror to see the truth from the falsehood. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will give him the wisdom, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will give him the insight. Like a mirror you will see everything. O Allah, make us among the Sadiqeen. Ameen Rabbil Alameen. When Allah subhana wa ta'ala descends to the lowest heaven, this is a very precious time. May Allah subhana wa ta'ala make us among those who are Shakireen. May Allah subhana wa ta'ala make as among those whom Allah subhana wa ta'ala will give the ajar, and respond to all our du a. Ameen Rabbil Alameen. Ya Rabbi, increase me in guidance and keep me on the way of guidance until the last moment of my life. This is a transcript of a lecture given by Sister Eman al Obaid. We ask Allah subhana wa ta ala for His forgiveness and His Mercy. Anything that is good from these notes is from Allah subhana wa ta ala. Any mistakes & misrepresentations are my own. I ask Allah subhana wa ta ala for His forgiveness and to put forgiveness in the hearts of those who read them. JazakAllah Khairan. 12
