The Garden St. Paul s is Growing... We loved the image Forest used in his Stewardship Mission Moment about the garden we, St. Paul s, is tending to /growing. One of our favorite images is a wildflower field in the mountains. It is spontaneous, colorful, playful and awe-some. One of the most beautiful places we have been is the Butchart Gardens in Victoria, Canada. Everything is well planned, meticulously cared for and astonishing in it s beauty. Butchart Gardens There are many different types of gardens but they ALL take energy and care. Someone (or something) has to buy the seeds, sow the seeds, nurture the buds, water the plants, deadhead blooms (cut away dead blooms that are absorbing energy that needs to flow elsewhere), decide the layout (or let the seeds land where they may) and more. We have just finished up our Stewardship campaign and we hope that each of you has been challenged to find your place in the garden. Will you sow or reap or deadhead or plan? There will be different areas of the garden maybe we will have a wildflower patch and a finely sculptured Japanese bonsai area but there will be people in the world that will be attracted to both. There is a need for diversity in our garden and there is plenty of work for all to maintain it. As we turn to a month of Thanksgiving and grateful hearts we hope that you will think about God in your life. Where are you serving God? How often do you give God thanks? When do you build up God s kingdom/god s garden? What are you doing to make sure that the garden grows? We leave you with a few verses of scripture from a letter Paul wrote to the Corinthians: The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
