Jesus Knows Jesus knows how you feel when things are scary, or sad, or when you feel all alone. Remember that Jesus loves you. He can always see you. He can always hear you. He always knows what you are thinking. You can tell God and Jesus anything. They never go to sleep so you can talk to them any time you want. o Jesus knows what it is like to be homeless. Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head. Matthew 8:20 -- page 692 in your Bible Draw a hole for this fox. Color the bird in her nest. Tell Jesus thank you for letting you sleep in a house with a bed. Most of the time, Jesus slept outside.

o Jesus knows what it feels like to cry. Jesus wept. John 11:35 --- page 768 in your Bible One time, Jesus cried because His good friend, Lazarus, had died. Jesus brought Lazarus back to life. Jesus knew what He was going to do for His friends, Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. Jesus cried because His friends were so sad. If you start at the bottom of page 767 in your Bible right by the number 11, you can read the whole story. You can read the most important part of the story on page 768, verses 38-44. In Bible times, when people died, they were wrapped, kind of like a mummy, and buried in caves. See if you can find the words about the story in this word search. The answers are on the next page, if you need a little help. Remember the words can go across, up and down, backward, or forward. 4 o Jesus helped people. He wants us to be good helpers. Jesus told a neat story about a man called a good Samaritan who was a good helper and a good neighbor. Most people did not like Samaritans. Samaritans were not pure Israelites. Their grandparents were Assyrians (enemies) and poor Israelites. Read this story on page 742 where it says Parable of the Good Samaritan. Color the picture.

o Jesus Loves Children Jesus loves children. He knows what it s like to be a child. When Jesus came to live on Earth, He came as a baby. You probably know the date of your birth. Write your birthday on this line. Lots of people think that Jesus was born on Christmas Day. The Bible doesn t tell us when Jesus was born. The Bible does tell us a lot about the birth of Jesus. See how much you can read about Jesus and then answer the questions about His birth. Read Luke chapter 1 and almost all of chapter 2. That s on pages 730-732 of your new Bible. Answers are on the next page, if you need a little help. (Luke 1:26-27, page 730) 1. Joseph and Mary were. engaged (betrothed) already married 2. Circle the name of the angel who talked to Mary. Michael Gabriel (Luke 2: 1-7, page 732) 3. Mary and Joseph traveled from. Nazareth to Bethlehem Jerusalem to Jericho 4. There was no room for them in the. Barn Inn 5. Jesus did not have a baby bed. Mary put Him in a. Manger laundry basket

Manger laundry basket

o Jesus Was A Child Like You Jesus knows what it is like to be a child. He knows what it is like to grow up with other children. The real Father of Jesus is God. God stayed up in Heaven, but He knew everything Jesus was doing. The foster dad of Jesus was a man named Joseph. He was a very good man. Joseph was a carpenter. Back then, boys learned how to do the jobs their dads did. So we know that Jesus probably worked as a carpenter.

o Jesus Got Lost? In the days of Jesus, families would walk for several days to go to Jerusalem. There was a special feast called the Passover. The Bible tells us about a time when Jesus was 12 years old and He walked to Jerusalem with His family and friends. While they were in Jerusalem, Jesus went to the Temple. Read about it on pages 732-733, Luke 2: 41-52. Start where it says, The Boy Jesus in the Temple. Find out whether Jesus got lost or whether His parents lost Him. Find out how Jesus treated His parents. Did He obey His parents or did He do whatever He wanted? On the next page, look at the map. 1. Can you take a pencil and mark the trip from Nazareth (where Jesus lived) to Jerusalem (where they went for the Passover)? 2. Can you find Bethlehem, where Jesus was born? 3. This is a picture of the Temple in Jerusalem, where Jesus & His family went to worship. Can you draw a picture of the Temple?

o Jesus Grew Up & Taught Us How God Wants Us to Live For about 3 years, Jesus traveled around the country near His home. He had 12 followers called apostles, and a bunch of followers called disciples. Jesus taught them the important things we need to know if we are going to live like God wants us to live. All of the things Jesus taught are found in the Bible so we can know those things, too. Some of the Important Things God Wants Us to Know: o God is love. I John 4:8 pg. 879 o God wants us to love Him and to love each other. I John 4:20-21 pg. 879 o You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself. Luke 10:27 pg. 742 o Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Ephesians 6:1 page 839 o Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32 pg. 838 o Do all things without grumbling or questioning. Philippians 2:14 pg. 841 (some Bibles say, Do all things without arguing or complaining.) o For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 pg. 809

God Wants Us To Know How to Become Christians Many people say they are Christians. Some of those people really are Christians. Some believe they are Christians, but they aren t really sure about it. You can know for sure whether or not you are a Christian. o When a baby is born into a family, it is good and pure. It has never done anything bad. Sometimes grown-ups will say something about a baby being bad, but that s not true. Babies are just babies. They grow and learn. Good people love babies and take good care of them. o Babies grow up to be children. Children get themselves in trouble sometimes. Sometimes, children run out in the street, or run the other way when a parent says, Come here. Sometimes, loving parents spank their children to teach them they must listen and obey. The rules of good parents help keep children safe. o Sometimes children do other things that are against the family rules. They tell a lie. They cheat on a test. They hurt another child. When those things happen, children get in trouble with their parents or teachers. Good parents teach their children how to know what is right and what is wrong.

The Bible Teaches What is Right and What is Wrong The Bible Tells Us How to Become Christians. 12 When a child is young, parents are in charge of making sure the child does that which is right. For a long time, when children do something wrong, they are afraid they will get in trouble. When a child gets older and does something wrong, they are sad because they know God and Jesus are sad about the wrong that was done. When you get to the point that you are sad about the wrong things you do, not because you think you ll get in trouble, but because you want to please God; then it s time to think about becoming a Christian. Here are some things that will be true when you want to become a Christian. You enjoy reading your Bible. You care more about obeying God than about anything else. You enjoy going to church to worship God. You talk to God several times each day. Your best friends are people who love God.

How to Become a Christian Realize that each one of us should go to hell because of our sins. Romans 3:23 pg. 806 Romans 6:23 pg 808 Believe that God sent Jesus to pay the price for our sins. He died to take away our sins so we can live with Him in Heaven forever. John 3:16-18 Pg. 760 Believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that God raised Him from the dead. Romans 10:9-10 pg 810 Repent of your sins. That means to tell God you are sorry for all the bad things you ve done. When we repent, we quit living any way we want and start living the way God wants us to live. Luke 13:3, 5 pg. 745 Confess before people that you believe Jesus really is the Son of God. Matthew 10: 32-33 pg. 694 Romans 10:10 pg. 810 Be baptized, by being buried in water, in order for God to take away your sins and give you the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38 pg. 779 (The gift of the Holy Spirit won t make you do anything weird. The Holy Spirit lives within us and makes it easier for us to want to do what God wants us to do. The Spirit also helps us get out of bad situations. He loves us, leads us, and guides us.) God adds you to His church. Acts 2:41 pg. 780 Acts 2:47 pg.780 Live the rest of your life, obeying God, and serving Him faithfully. Revelation 2: 10 page 884

What Happens After I m Baptized? You should read your Bible every day. The Bible is like a love letter from God. He is our Father up in Heaven. If we are going to love Him and obey Him, we need to put His words in our hearts. Psalm 119:11 pg. 436 I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. 2 Timothy 2:15 pg. 854 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. Psalm 119:66 pg. 437 Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe in your commandments. Do your best to obey God in what you think, what you do, and what you say every day. Pray every day. Ask God to help you do the right thing. Psalm 141: 3 pg. 444 Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!

Every time God s people come together, you need to be there. Find a church of Christ where you like the people and they like you. Listen carefully to everything that is taught. Make sure you can find every one of those teachings in the Bible. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Circle every single gift that God has given to you. Then draw picture of some more things God has given to you.

Free Gifts From God o Think of some of the neat things God give us. His love Air to breathe Butterflies to watch Shade from trees Pretty flowers Water to drink Water to bathe ourselves Water to fish or swim People to love Friends A home in Heaven when this life is over if we ve done what God wants us to do. o What Can We Give to God? When we go to church, we go to worship God. Worshipping God is telling God that we love Him. We show our love for God when we sing to Him. We show our love for God when we pray to Him. We show our love for God when we listen in Bible Class and when we listen to the preacher. We show our love for God when we give money during the collection. During the Lord s Supper, we show our love by sitting still and being very quiet. We show our love by thinking about when Jesus died on the cross for our sins. We show our love for God when we love other people. Draw pictures of some of these ways you show your love to God.

Wonderful Things I Can Learn From My Bible o The Bible is full of wonderful stories and all of them are true. o Read the book of Acts. Then see if you can answer these questions. The Beginning of the Church Acts 2:1-4 page 774

1. Who cured a man who was crippled? Acts 3:1-10 pg. 780 2. Who died for telling a lie? & Acts 5:1-11 pg. 781 3. Who taught a man in a chariot? Acts 8: 26-40 pg. 785 4.
