Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. 42 They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:41-47 (NIV)

Believers are never told to become one. We are already one and are expected to act like it. Joni Eareckson Tada
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26-28 (NIV)

Worship is not just important for us as individual children of God. It is the ultimate purpose of the church and has been since its beginning. The church of Acts could have tried to replicate the mass conversion event of Pentecost, but it did not. Instead, its first concern was to give God what was due: worship... In the early church, worship was the main attraction!... The true goal of evangelism was to produce more and better worshipers But one of the primary outcomes of the early church s commitment to worship was evangelism, the outreach often taking place within the worship service itself Whether evangelism through worship was direct or indirect, the cause-effect relationship of New Testament worship and evangelism is undeniable. Sally Morgenthaler, Worship Evangelism
Unified, God-glorifying community has always been precious to God! How good and pleasant it is when God s people live together in unity! 2 It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron s beard, down on the collar of his robe. 3 It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore. Psalm 133:1-3 (NIV)
Unified, God-glorifying community is Jesus' dream and plan! I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, 21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. John 17:20-21 (ESV)
The Peace of Christ for you.
