ALL SAINTS CHURCH Upper Twickenham EIGHTH SUNDAY Of the Year QUINQUAGESIMA PARISH MASS www.allsaintstwickenham.co.uk

A lleluia! sing to Jesus! His the sceptre, his the throne. Alleluia! His the triumph, his the victory alone. Hark! the songs of peaceful Zion thunder like a mighty flood. Jesus out of every nation hath redeemed us by his blood. 2. Alleluia! not as orphans are we left in sorrow now; Alleluia! He is near us, faith believes, nor questions how; Though the cloud from sight received him when the forty days were o'er shall our hearts forget his promise, 'I am with you evermore'? ENTRANCE HYMN 3. Alleluia! bread of heaven, here on earth our food and stay! Alleluia! here the sinful flee to thee from day to day. Intercessor, Friend of sinners, earth's Redeemer, plead for me. Where the songs of all the sinless sweep across the crystal sea. 4. Alleluia! King eternal, thee the Lord of lords we own; Alleluia! born of Mary, earth thy footstool, heaven thy throne. Thou within the veil hast entered, robed in flesh, our great High Priest. Thou on earth both Priest and Victim in the Eucharistic Feast.. - 2 -

PENITENTIAL RITE Brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries. A brief pause for silence follows. Then we sing together: The Priest then pronounces the words of Absolution. May almighty God have mercy on us, Forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen. GLORIA IN EXCELSIS 3

G rant us, O Lord, we pray, that the course of our world may be directed by your peaceful rule and that your Church may rejoice, untroubled in her devotion. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. THE LITURGY OF THE WORD THE COLLECT First Reading Isaiah 49: 14-15 The word of the Lord Thanks be to God. THE RESPONSORIAL PSALM SIT Second Reading 1 Cor 4: 1-5 The word of the Lord Thanks be to God. 4

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION STAND THE HOLY GOSPEL At the end the reader sings or says: THE HOMILY SIT 5

I THE PROFESSION OF FAITH believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. BOW 6

THE PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL One of the following is used Lord, hear us Lord, graciously hear us. Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer. Let us Pray to the Lord, Lord, have mercy Let us as our Lady to add her prayers to ours as we say: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art though among women, and blessed is the fruit of they womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen. 7

THE LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST AT THE PREPARATION OF THE ALTAR 8

- 9 -

Pray, my brothers and sisters, that our sacrifice may be acceptable to God the almighty Father. May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name, for our good, and the good of all his holy Church. The celebrant continues with the Eucharistic prayer until we sing: We all KNEEL as the Celebrant continues with the Eucharistic Prayer. - 10 -

After the Lord s words are said over the bread and the cup we use the following response: The Mystery of Faith At the end of prayer we all sing: Amen. COMMUNION RITE THE LORD S PRAYER STAND At the Saviour s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say: Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. - 11 -

Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour Jesus Christ. For the Kingdom, the power and the glory are yours Now and for ever. Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles: peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins but on the faith of your Church and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen. AGNUS DEI - 12 -

COMMUNION Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sin of the world. Blessed are those who are called to the supper of the lamb. Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed. When offered the Host or when given a blessing the response is: Amen. All baptised Christians are welcome to receive Holy Communion if it your usual practice or the practice of your church. If not, you may like to receive a blessing. Please come to the altar holding this booklet to indicate that you would like a blessing. DURING HOLY COMMUNION S eek ye first the kingdom of God And His righteousness; And all these things shall be added unto you. Allelu, alleluia! Alleluia! Ask, and it shall be given unto you; Seek, and you shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Allelu, alleluia! Man shall not live by bread alone, But by every word That proceeds out from the mouth of God. Allelu, alleluia! - 13 -

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION STAND Please SIT as the Banns of Marriage and notices are given. THE CONCLUDING RITES - 14 -

A FINAL HYMN & BURIAL OF THE ALLELUIA lleluia, song of sweetness, voice of joy that cannot die; alleluia is the anthem ever raised by choirs on high; in the house of God abiding thus they sing eternally. Alleluia thou resoundest, true Jerusalem and free; alleluia, joyful mother, all thy children sing with thee; but by Babylon's sad waters mourning exiles now are we. Alleluia cannot always be our song while here below; alleluia our transgressions make us for awhile forgo; fort the solemn time is coming when our tears for sin must flow. Alleluias we now forfeit in this holy time of Lent. Alleluias we relinquish as we for our sins repent, trusting always in God's mercy and in Love omnipotent. Therefore in our hymns we pray thee, grant us, blessed Trinity, at the last to keep thine Easter, in our home beyond the sky, there to thee for ever singing alleluia joyfully. - 15 -
