Above all kingdoms, above all thrones, Above all wonders the world has ever known; Above all wealth and treasures of the earth, There s no way to measure what you re worth. Crucified, laid behind the stone; You lived to die, rejected and alone; Like a rose, trampled on the ground, You took the fall, but now you re raised above all. LeBlanc & Baloche, 1999 by Hosanna! Music ~ CCLI #1881909 Unison Prayer of Confession Dear Lord, you are Almighty God, the Creator of the Universe, and the King of the World. You are infinite. Yet, in your mercy you care for us who are finite. You are strong and yet you comfort the weak. You are complete in yourself and yet you seek relationship with us. As we recognize your greatness, we acknowledge our weakness, and we realize our need for forgiveness. We have sinned against you, against others, and against ourselves. We have not followed you with our whole hearts, nor loved our neighbors as ourselves. We try to prove our own worth and fail to admit our weakness. We pretend to be better than we are. We are not generous with our hearts, our money, or our time and choose to focus on ourselves. We neglect the needs of others and the work of your kingdom. Forgive us, we pray. TODAY S SCRIPTURES Psalm 149:1-11 and Hebrew 10:11-25 Psalm 149:1-11 1 Praise the LORD. Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of his faithful people. 2 Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. 3 Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp. 4 For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. 5 Let his faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds. 6 May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, 7 to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, 8 to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron, 9 to carry out the sentence written against them this is the glory of all his faithful people. Hebrews 10:11-25 11 Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool. 14 For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. 15 The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says: 16 This is the covenant I will make with them: after that time, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds. 17 Then he adds: Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more. 18 And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary. 19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching. New International Version; 2011 by Biblica, Inc. Used by permission. CALENDAR OF UPCOMING ACTIVITIES
