Moses and the Ten Commandments 5pm Informal Service March 11, 2018

Welcome Celebrant Together This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Lord, direct our thoughts, teach us to pray, lift up our hearts to worship you in Spirit and truth, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. O God of burning, cleansings flame O God of burning cleansing flame: Send the fire! Your blood bought gift today we claim: Look down and see this waiting host And send the promised Holy Ghost We need another Pentecost Opening Song William Booth Itʹs fire we want for fire we plead: Send the fire! The fire will meet our every need: For strength to always do whatʹs right For grace to conquer in the fight For power to walk the world in white God of Elijah hear our cry: Send the fire! And make us fit to live or die: To burn up every trace of sin To bring the light and glory in The revolution now begin To make our weak hearts strong and brave: Send the fire! To live a dying world to save: Oh see us on Your altar lay We give our lives to You today So crown the offering now we pray

Opening Prayer Almighty God, you know that we have no power in ourselves to help ourselves: Keep us both outwardly in our bodies and inwardly in our souls, that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and everver. Amen. Scripture Lesson Gospel Lesson: Exodus 20:1 17 God spoke all these words: I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; you shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me, but showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments. You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not acquit anyone who misuses his name. Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy. For six days you shall labor and Reader The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. do all your work. But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but rested the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and consecrated it. Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. You shall not covet your neighbor s house; you shall not covet your neighbor s wife, or male or female slave, or ox, or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Hosanna in the highest. Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Post Communion Prayer Eternal God, heavenly Father, you have graciously accepted us as living members of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ, and you have fed us with spiritual food in the Sacrament of his Body and Blood. Send us now into the world in peace, and grant us strength and courage to love and serve you with gladness and singleness of heart; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Final Song Amazing grace (my chains are gone) New Britain arr. Chris Tomlin (b. 1972) Amazing grace, How sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now I m found; Was blind, but now I see. Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved. How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed. My chains are gone; I ve been set free. My God, my Savior, Has ransomed me. And like a flood, his mercy reigns: Unending love, amazing grace. The Lord has promised good to me; His word my hope secures. He will my shield and portion be As long as life endures. The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, The sun forbear to shine; But God, who called me here below, Will be forever mine, Will be forever mine. You are forever mine. Blessing and Dismissal
