July 17, 2016 Called to be Kingdom Builders for Christ Our Mission To bring others into Asbury UMC to experience a difference, so they make a difference for Jesus Christ and others. Our Invitation To all who need Comfort, Friendship and the Love of God through our Savior Jesus Christ. This church opens wide its doors in the name of our Lord and says, Welcome. A United Methodist Church 1700 Napa Valley Drive Little Rock, AR 72212 225-9231 www.asbury-lr.org Asbury UMC Little Rock

Please print your information on the attendance pads and return them to the end of the pew. If you desire to join Asbury UMC, come forward during the last song, and our pastors will greet you. Divine Worship Sanctuary July 17, 2016 8:30 & 10:45 A.M. Gathering in God s Presence Welcome and Announcements Prelude *Call to Worship Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth! Ascribe power to God, whose majesty is over all. Awesome is God in His sanctuary; He gives power and strength to His people. Sing praises to the Lord our God. Amen *Hymn of Praise Rejoice, the Lord is King 714 Preparing Our Hearts *Affirmation of Faith The Nicene Creed 880 We believe in one God, The Father, the Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, True God from True God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father; through Him all things were made. For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered death and was buried. On the third day He rose again in accordance with the scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father, and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen *Gloria Patri 70 Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, World without end. Amen. Amen. Operating expenses of the church are never on vacation, so we need to be current with our giving. Thank you so much, Asbury! Change for Change begins August 7th Did you know Asbury supports DOZENS of missions beyond our walls? College students have a better education because of you, through Philander Smith and Hendrix College. Children with special needs enjoy wonderful summertime activities and water sports, because your giving supports Aldersgate Camp. People across the world are helped in the midst of tragedy because of you, through UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief). And, people in impoverished countries have cleaner water and fewer mosquitos through programs like No More Malaria and water wells in Kenya and The Congo. These are just a few of the many ways our Shared Ministries and outreach efforts help others we may never meet. Throughout the church, beginning August 7, we will place receptacles to receive your dollar bills and spare change to collectively place towards these Shared Ministry missions. They will be collected after each service, received in safekeeping, and distributed directly to our Shared Ministries and outreach efforts. Any bit of extra money you can donate will be received with gratitude. This is also a great way to get kids involved in giving. Thank you! JULY VAN FUNDRAISER For the month of July, we re doing a new fundraiser for Asbury s new van! A board with envelopes, numbered 1-100, will be placed in the WAC. To participate, you choose an envelope, take it off the board, and return it with the amount corresponding to the number of the envelope (envelope #1 = $1 etc.) to the church. You can place it in the offering plate, or return it to the church office by July 31. Different ministries for which the van can be used are listed on the envelopes, so you can choose your envelope by the ministry or the amount. If all the envelopes are taken and returned, we will raise $5,050!! If you have any questions, talk to Amy Bennett or Clark Cogbill. So far, $671 has been raised in this envelope program! Currently, $34,800.93 has been raised toward a new van!! Thanks to everyone that has donated so far. We still need a little over $30,000 to reach our goal!
