First Presbyterian Church The Peace The Lord be with you; And also with you. Scripture Message We Encounter God Welcome July 12 th, 2015 We Gather Together Call to Worship We come, for God gathers us here, with that community called faith: where the hungry are served first, where the thirsty drink life s water. We come, for God welcomes us here into that home called grace: where the naked are clothed in robes of hope; where the stranger is embraced as the long-lost prodigal. We come, for God reunites us here, sisters and brothers in that family called love: where we worship together as a family of faith. Confession & Assurance We confess that in our lives we often hide behind our work and play, schools and jobs, fun and fashion. We let ourselves get so busy that we forget the cause of the poor and the suffering. We confess we allow the powers of this world to seduce us into selfishness and silence our witness. Teach us to champion the cause for justice for all; strengthen us to love our neighbor and speak truth no matter the penalty. Amen. We Respond to God s Goodness Affirmation of Faith I BELIEVE in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. Our Offerings Benediction

Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love; Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee, Opening to the sun above. Melt the clouds of sin and sadness, Drive the doubt of dark away; Giver of immortal gladness, Fill us with the light of day. All thy works with joy surround Thee, Earth and heaven reflect Thy rays, Stars and angels sing around Thee, Center of unbroken praise. Field and forest, vale and mountain, Flowery meadow, flashing sea, Chanting bird and flowing fountain, Call us to rejoice in Thee. Thou art giving and forgiving, Ever blessing, ever blest, Well-spring of the joy of living, Ocean depth of happy rest Thou our Father Christ, our Brother All who live in love are Thine; Teach us how to love each other, Lift us to the joy divine. Mortals, join the happy chorus Which the morning stars began; Father love is reigning o er us, Brother love binds us as one. Ever singing, march we onward, Victors in the midst of strife, Joyful music leads us sunward In the triumph song of life. Morning Has Broken Morning has broken like the first morning, Black bird has spoken like the first bird. Praise for the singing Praise for the morning Praise for them springing fresh from the Word Sweet the rain s new fall sunlit from heaven, Like the first dew fall on the first grass. Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden, Sprung in completeness where his feet pass. Mine is the sunlight Mine is the morning, Born of the one light Eden saw play Praise with elation, praise every morning, God s re-creation of the day Seek Ye First Seek ye first the kingdom of God, And His righteousness, And all these things shall be added unto you, Allelu, alleluia. Ask and it shall be given unto you, Seek and ye shall find, Knock and the door shall be opened unto you, Allelu, alleluia. We shall not live by bread alone, But by every word, That is given as a gift from God, Allelu, alleluia. Rock of Ages Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in Thee; Let the water and the blood, From Thy riven side which flowed, Be of sin the double cure, Cleanse me from its guilt and pow r. Not the labors of my hands Can fulfill Thy law s demands; Could my zeal no respite know, Could my tears forever flow, All for sin could not atone; Thou must save and Thou alone. Nothing in my hand I bring, Simply to the cross I cling; Naked, come to Thee for dress, Helpless, look to Thee for grace; Foul, I to the fountain fly, Wash me Savior, or I die While I draw this fleeting breath, When my eyes shall close in death, When I soar to worlds unknown, See Thee on Thy judgment throne, Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in Thee. I Love You, Lord I love you, Lord, And I lift my voice To worship You, O my soul, rejoice Take joy, my King In what You heart: May it be a sweet, sweet sound In Your ear.
How Great Thou Art O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made, I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy pow r throughout the universe displayed. Chorus: Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou art Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee: How great Thou art, how great Thou art When thro the woods and forest glades I wander And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees, When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur, And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze. Chorus And when I think that God, His Son not sparing, Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in, That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin. Chorus When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart Then I shall bow in humble adoration, And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art. Chorus Pass It On It only takes a spark To get a fire going, And soon all those around Can warm up in its glowing; That s how it is with God s love, Once you ve experienced it: You spread His love to everyone, You want to pass it on. What a wondrous time is spring, When all the trees are budding, The birds begin to sing, The flowers start their blooming; That s how it is with God s love, Once you ve experienced it: You want to sing, it s fresh like spring, You want to pass it on. I wish for you, my friend, This happiness that I ve found You can depend on God, It matters now where you re bound; I ll shout it from the mountaintop (hey, world) I want my world to know: The Lord of love has come to me, I want to pass it on. Amazing Grace Amazing grace How sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me I once was lost but now am found, Was blind but now I see. Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed. The Lord has promised good to me, His word my hope secures; He will my shield and portion be As long as life endures. Thru many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home. When we ve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, We ve no less days to sing God s praise Than when we d first begun. Majesty Majesty, worship His majesty. Unto Jesus be all glory, honor, and praise. Majesty, kingdom authority Flow from his throne, unto His own; His anthem raise. So exalt, lift up on high The name of Jesus. Magnifty, come glorify Christ Jesus the King. Majesty, worship His majesty; Jesus who died, now glorified, King of all kings.
