Seventh Sunday of Easter May 28, 2017 The Worship of God - 8:15 a.m. Service Gathering ENTRANCE Prelude My Lord! What a Morning Ralph Tamper arr. Emma Lou Diemer *Invocation Sometimes, when we gather for worship we need a little more of God s presence. Sometimes we need some help. Sometimes we need a nudge. Sometimes we re kind of tired, worn down, too stuck in our routines, and life is feeling too ordinary and uninspired. It s always good to gather in a place like this, where the love, presence, and joy of God is shared, where the possibility of rebirth always persists, where bursts of resurrection life surprise and enliven us. So, spirit of God, in this special place, gather us into your warm, life-giving presence. Amen. Amen. *Hymn, No. 152 I Sing the Almighty Power of God FOREST GREEN PROCLAMATION AND RESPONSE *Gospel Lesson John 14:15-21 N.T. p. 109 The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Sermon I Don t Want To Do This By Myself Rev. Ann Akin Act of Praise Steal Away Justine Halamicek, soprano African-American Spiritual arr. Harry T. Burleigh Steal away, steal away, steal away to Jesus. Steal away, steal away home, I ain t got long to stay here. My Lord, calls me. He calls me by the thunder; The trumpet sounds within-a my soul; I ain t got long to stay here. Green trees are bending, Poor sinner stands a trembling; The trumpet sounds within-a my soul; I ain t got long to stay here. 2
