Our Sympathy to ~ June Taylor in the death of her sister, Madge Wilson Jester, on October 27, 2012. Phyllis Morgan in the death of her sister, Henrietta Horney Bellamy, on October 28, 2012. Our Stewardship Moment speaker this morning is Dwayne Everett. Dwayne is currently a resident at the Arthur Cassell House, a two-year residential rehabilitation program for men run by Open Door Ministries. Our church s gifts to Open Door Ministries help Dwayne and other men find the skills to grow in wholeness and to regain an independent and productive life. Thanks & Praises ~ to the 17 people who dressed the candles in preparation for the Love Feast....to our Sandwich Ministry volunteers who prepared and delivered lunch to the homeless this past weekend!...to everyone who participated and led the Day Retreat. It was a wonderful time of prayer and reflection!...to Jimmy and Anne Carroll for stuffing the bulletins for the Oct. 28 worship services.... To all those who helped make the Costume Carnival and Trunk or Treat a success. Chad & Jonah Miller, Betsey Clinard, Carolyn Steed, who helped set up and decorate. Wendy Kitley as story teller, those who decorated their cars and handed out candy, to the Student Ministries and Wesley 100 for the dinner, and to our wonderful facilities staff for all they did behind the scenes.... to everyone who had a hand in making the Pumpkin Patch a success! It takes everyone helping unload, setup, work shifts, roll pumpkins, take pictures, tell stories and clean up to have a successful Pumpkin Patch. We appreciate your faithful support of Student Ministries. to Mendy Kearns a special thanks for coordinating the work schedules this year for the Pumpkin Patch! Announcements Wednesday Dinners to Resume on November 28 Wednesday night dinners will be suspended from October 31 November 21 and will resume on November 28 and continue through December 19 when we will also be offering an Advent Study. The menu for the dinner on November 28 for adults is BBQ, Baked Beans, Slaw, Roll & Dessert. The children s menu is hot dog, chips, carrots & dessert. Purchase a ticket or call the office to make a reservation for dinner. Dinners will be suspended to allow for the pre-school conference and UMW Christmas Bazaar that utilize all our space and the Halloween and Thanksgiving holidays. See you on the 28th! Ways to GROW Still time to participate in the study on the Beatitudes! We ll explore how Jesus teaching can help us focus our lives. Ways to SERVE Ways to CONNECT Deliver Thanksgiving dinner to families in need! The Fairview Partnership team is once again providing Thanksgiving dinners to Fairview Elementary School families the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Ways to GIVE Tony Griffey Food Drive Challenge!! We are beginning our fall food drive early this year to participate in the Tony Griffey Challenge. If our church brings in 2500 items for Open Door Ministries food pantry, Tony Griffey will sing two songs at our Sunday worship service for free! So, BRING IN THAT FOOD! Suggested items are: peanut butter and jelly, canned meats (tuna, chicken), canned meals (ravioli or spaghetti), canned vegetables, canned fruits, boxed milk (parmalat), pasta, rice, breakfast cereal, dried beans, juice boxes, and canned soups. The Christmas Bazaar is Coming!!!!!! The UMW would like to have your contributions for the Silent Auction and General Store portions of the Bazaar. Clean out your closet, attic and garage. Art, lamps, dishes, housewares, toys, books, collectibles, sports tickets, and small appliances are welcomed. NO CLOTHING. Gift cards for area businesses, restaurants and services are also great. Bring your items to the Dining Hall between 9 am and 4 pm on Thursday and Friday, November 15 and 16. Money raised from the Bazaar goes to support projects of the United Methodist Women. Thank you!!
