From the Desk of Deacon Andy Dear Friends, I m sure you ve noticed the call for nominations to the Pastoral Council that has appeared in the bulletin the past couple weeks. Each year at this time we ask for parishioners to serve in this capacity as some current members will be completing their terms. Those who serve on the Pastoral Council are among the key leaders in the parish as the Council sets the vision and helps to ensure that the mission of the parish is carried out effectively. In addition to the Pastoral Council, other important positions are filled by those who serve on the Finance Council and the two parish trustees. The trustees serve, along with the pastor/parish director, as ex-officio members of the other councils as well as members of the parish corporate Board of Directors. Our current trustees are Bob Ninnemann, who has served as a trustee since 2011 and will be completing his service at the end of June, and Mary Moritz, who has one year left on her latest term and will be ending her service a year from now. The two-year terms of the trustees are staggered so that we effectively fill one position each year. Both this year and next year we will be seeking new trustees to replace Bob and Mary. Anyone who is interested and willing to serve as a trustee is asked to contact me or the parish office to let us know of your availability. Nominations for the trustee position are open until June 17; if more than one nomination is received, an election will be held the weekend of June 30/July 1. In the meantime, let me offer my sincere gratitude to Bob, Mary, and all those who have served on the Pastoral and Finance Councils during my tenure as Parish Director. Thanks also to those who have served on the School Committee, the Human Concerns Committee, and all the various ministries here at MGC. To paraphrase a famous proverb, It takes a village to run a parish. Peace, Deacon Andy MGC Pastoral Council Nomination Forms Pastoral Council Nominations for a three year term are now being accepted. Please consider nominating someone that you feel could represent the parish well in direction and vision or yourself for the parish council. Nomination forms are at the end of the pews. You may fill it out and nominate someone or yourself and then place it in the offertory basket or drop off at the parish office before June 1. If you cannot make it to church you may use this form, e-mail or call the parish director or the pastoral council chair with your nominations. Phone numbers and e-mails of each appear in the weekly bulletin. Those nominated that would like to move forward with the nomination would be contacted and invited to the parish council meeting on Tuesday, June 5 to finish the discernment process of prayer and reflection. Eligibility requires the candidate to be a baptized, practicing Catholic; at least 18 years of age; registered member of the parish; participate in parish life, especially Mass and the sacraments; husband and wife, siblings or parent/child may not serve together on the council.
