By grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God. Eph.2:6 Saved by grace, not by works is such a difficult concept to understand. In our everyday life, we too often try to make things right by fixing our mistakes. We know what was wrong and want to make amends. Make it all better. But when it comes to salvation, no amount of do-overs, try agains, donate more to the cause, or I ll earn my way, can give us salvation. Salvation comes only through faith in Christ by God the Father s Grace alone. Jesus sacrificed it all, His life for you and me. That is the undeserved free gift of salvation. Enjoy this Reformation season knowing that the gift of life has been given to you from Jesus alone. Thinking Ahead - Thanksgiving Baskets Once again, our school families have the opportunity of helping other families in our community. Through students' October chapel offering envelopes, money is collected for the perishable goods that must be bought just before Community Thanksgiving Baskets are delivered. Then, in November classrooms help fill the baskets with canned and boxed goods that can be kept on shelves longer. Please donate what you can every week. At the end of October we can be ready to purchase turkeys, butter, and potatoes. As Thanksgiving gets closer we will purchase the eggs, milk, rolls and pies. Imagine the feast that will be ours to share through your generous Chapel offerings. Meet the Staff: ECC CONNECTION Early Childhood information to help you stay up-to-date. Gladys Pickering: My name is Gladys Pickering. I have been a member here at Trinity since March of 2012. I was born in Alpena MI and have lived in East Detroit, Warren, Sterling Heights, Gaylord, Port Huron an now St. Joseph. Thus, I know the State of Michigan quite well and the many Lutheran churches I was a member of. My daughter Tracie Berghaus works in the Early Childhood Office and husband Marty works at Whirlpool. Grandchildren Clare and Tanner were confirmed and graduated from here. Son, Gene and his wife, Cathy reside up in Elmira (near Gaylord) and grandchildren, Megan and Madison attend Boyne Falls Schools. Stepson, David and his wife Linda added two more grandchildren, Geoffrey and Lesley. Darla Jean is my great granddaughter born to Geoffrey and Jessica. Thomas J. IV (T.J.) was just born on September 27th to Lesley and Thomas Raleigh, so now I have a great grandson too. I have worked here at Trinity since November of 2015 with the SAC program. I really think working with these children has kept me young and more active. I love being "Ms. Gladys."
