FAQ Frequently Asked Questions Q. What is Disciple Now? A. Disciple Now is a two day event for children in grades 2 nd -5 th. The purpose of Disciple now is to give these pre-teens a chance to experience worship services designed specifically for them, and small group discussion sessions designed to foster fellowship and discipleship, as well as to allow them to have fun. The children will spend the night in host homes. Q. What activities are involved in this Disciple Now weekend? A. You can see the attached schedule for all activities. Basically, the weekend will include large group worship time, small group discussion groups, game time, and meal time. Q. How much does Disciple Now cost? A. $35, which includes all four meals, a t-shirt, afternoon activities, and all other activities. Q. Who are chaperones and how can I contact them? A. Each age group is assigned a host home. Some host home leaders are also small group leaders, and some groups have a small group leader assigned to them. All host home/small group leaders will receive a packet of information containing emergency and contact information for each student staying in their homes. Parents will also receive the information for contacting the host homes. This information will be handed out on Friday night, as the students check in. If an emergency should arise, my cell phone number is 256-651-4988. Q. Are boys and girls staying at the same house? A. No, we have separate houses for each age group, with boys and girls staying in separate houses. They will participate in the large group worship time and other activities together, but they will be separate for all small group discussion times.

Q. What do children need to bring? A. Each child will need to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, beauty/hygiene items, appropriate sleepwear, clothes for Saturday, and extra set of clothes for water games on Saturday, Bible, and pencil/pens. Cell phones, game boys, etc. may be packed for the host home, but if the students bring them out at inappropriate times (i.e. Bible study), they will be taken up by the chaperones and held until the Disciple Now weekend is over. Q. What will the material be? A. The theme for the weekend is God is. We will be learning about the characteristics of God, specifically that God is Omnipresent, Faithful, and Trustworthy. Our time will be divided between large group time and small group time. Teaching will occur during both segments. Q. Can parents participate? A. Parents are more than welcome to join us for any of the activities. Q. Can my child participate in only some of the activities? A. While children are at the Disciple Now, they must participate in all of the activities. If you already have something planned that conflicts with Disciple Now (sports game, concert, etc.), contact Jeanne to work out a solution. If children do not want to spend the night away from home, they can still participate in the rest of the activities, but please make Jeanne aware of this information when you sign-up your child for Disciple Now. Q. Can my child invite someone else to come? A. Your child may invite any of their friends (in 2 nd -5 th grade) to participate in the Disciple Now weekend, but everyone must be signed up by February 26 th. We have to order t-shirts and buy food ahead of time, so we must have a final number by the February 26 th. Q. How will the children be traveling to and from host homes and other activities? A. Transportation will be provided by the host home leaders and chaperones. If you would like to sign-up to help with transportation, please contact Jeanne.
