Coffee/Fellowship Hosts: Blantons and Von Hollens Flowers: Ken & Nadine McGough FOOD BANK: The February item is peanut butter an American favorite. The monthly food items are suggestions to give you some idea of what is needed; it is not intended to limit what you donate to just those items. If you would rather donate cash put it in an envelope marked Food Bank or make a check payable to the Oregon Food Bank and put it in the offering plate. Thank you for your continued support of our Washington County neighbors. OutReach Events We have been able to arrange a joint effort with NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill) to offer a 12- week class for family members of mentally ill persons starting in February. NAMI of Washington County will provide the instructors and we will provide the location. The class will be from noon to 2:30 pm on Sundays in the CE Bldg and is free, except that they ask for donations to defray the cost of printing materials ($3 per week). Please see Maryanne Weed for details or further information, and call NAMI at 503-356-6835 to register. Maryanne Weed and Ken King, Outreach elders.

Congregational Meeting Today Following Worship Immediately following worship today, we will convene in the church sanctuary for our annual congregational meeting. There are several things to vote on, including the 2014 Budget. Your vote counts! Annual Report Available 2014 Annual Reports are available for today s congregational meeting. If you didn t pick up one last Sunday be sure to get one today. You ll find them in the narthex and/or Fireside Room. Please look it over so you ll be well-informed at the meeting! The Life and Ministry of the Messiah AN ADULT CLASS ON SUNDAY MORNINGS 9:00-9:40 CE Room 1 Video series led by Andy Lindahl Filmed on locations in Israel and throughout the Middle East, the Faith Lessons series is an adventure in biblical learning. You will discover why Jesus turned the world upside down with his compelling call to follow him. Teacher and historian Ray Vander Laan brings together history, culture, and geography as you walk with Jesus through the days of his ministry on this earth. These illuminating 'faith lessons' give deep insights that will transform your reading of the Gospels and inspire a deeper faith commitment. 2013 Giving Statements The 2013 Giving statements have been mailed out. If you don t receive yours by January 31st, please contact the church office. Ladies PJ Party If you are an adult female and attend Bethany Presbyterian Church, then you are invited to the ladies PJ party on Friday, February 7 at 7 p.m.! It will be at the home of Karen Bryan: 12731 NW Waker Dr., Portland, OR 97229. Bring munchies or beverages to share. We will be watching a movie yet to be determined. We will NOT be staying overnight, but wear your PJ s! It would be great (but not required) to let Karen know we are coming. She can be e-mailed at kgbryan@yahoo.com, called at (503) 531-0743, or texted at (971) 250-1331. See you there!!! Collecting for Transition House Cooking Bethany Youth will be at the sanctuary doors on February 2nd (Super Bowl Sunday) to collect change for The Transition Center. The men love to eat and are quite good at it, but they never have enough silverware. Last month we had to stop serving food half way through in order to wash the silverware for the other half of the men in line. Souper Bowl collections are taken throughout the United States by Youth groups on the day of the Super Bowl. The money is then donated to worthy causes in the local areas. Since we have such a connection with the Transition Center, it seems a natural to supply them with additional silverware. Thanks for your support of this wonderful mission. The youth could not do it without you! Super Bowl Party at Bethany! Root for the Seahawks (or Broncos!) with your friends from Bethany! Or just come for the commercials. Whatever your interest, join the fun on Sunday, February 2, at 3pm in CE Rooms 5 & 6 for an impromptu Super Bowl party. And no Super Bowl party is complete without food and beverages, so you can bet there will be plenty of that! Yep, chili, snacks, and refreshments will be served, so sit back on comfy sofa with your favorite food and friends, and watch the action on a large screen. Bring the family... you won t even have to clean your house before or after the game!

Shipmates Meeting Coming Up February 16 It s time to raise anchor for the Shipmates quarterly meeting! As is our custom, The February meeting will be a luncheon which will be held at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club on Sunday, February 16. The Reserve is located at 4805 SW 229th Ave, Aloha, OR 97007. For those of you who have been there for our prior luncheons, you ll remember what an excellent restaurant it is, serving a wide selection of Northwest cuisine. Plan to arrive between 12 and 12:30pm. Reservations are required, so please contact Hugh Taylor as soon as possible to make your reservation or call if you have questions. And don t forget to sign up at the easel board in the Activity Center to bring household items or food for this quarter s selected family. These items are due on the day of the luncheon. A list of requested items is posted, and all you need to do is decide which item(s) you d like to bring and sign your name by them. Frank will collect all donated items on the 16th and deliver them. The form will be in the Bulletin for the next three Sundays; just fill it out and put in the offering plate. If you have questions, please contact Janet Smith in church or call her at (503)-341-8760. Groups of 6 or 8 will be put together to start in late February or first of March. Late drops-ins (those who are traveling) are welcome, just indicate when you will be available. When you find out who is in your group you will decide when and where you will "break bread" for these fun events. The group will stay together for 3-4 months until each unit "hosts" and then a new group will be formed by a Fellowship Committee representative. It s a great way to get to know more people at Bethany. Enjoy! Restaurant In-home Singles Name: Phone number: AUTHENTIC INTERGENERATIONAL WORSHIP Welcome to Bethany!
