Holy Trinity Parish HOLY TRINITY UPCOMING EVENTS HOLY TRINITY BOOK CLUB On Thursday, April 24th, at 7:00 PM in the Parish Center, all adults are welcome to attend a book discussion on The American Heiress by Daisy Goodwin. The novel is a social critique of the late 19th century in which a wealthy Newport, Rhode Island American woman is programmed by her mother to marry a member of titled British aristocracy, thereby earning the social status the mother seeks. The American woman views marriage as an escape from her mother s ambition and the British Lord sees American money as an opportunity to restore status and save his dilapidated ancestral home. Both parties forsake other more companionable partners. Competition between American and British aristocracy; cultural differences; infidelity; social rivalry, etc. appear to prove that money cannot buy everything. FAMILY PERSPECTIVE In the gospel today, Jesus cures a man born blind, using mud and dirt as a sign of His healing. Even the most ordinary things in our family can be sources of healing and signs of God s presence if we open our eyes and use them for the sake of others.
