1 PASTORAL VICARIATE R EGION 2 NEWSLETTER DIOCESE OF PITTSBURGH March 15, 2017 www.diopitt.org 1401 Hamilton Road PITTSBURGH, PA 15234 (412) 456-5645 (412) 882-0272 FAX e-mail:vicariate2@diopitt.org Dear Brothers and Sisters in the ministries of Vicariate Region 2, I ve been to a number of meetings with any number of you and other groups through the course of the last several months. For all it has been a very busy time especially since each of us have shared not only our cluster meetings but all the business that enters our days in the prep and celebration of the Lenten and Easter Season. I need to join the chorus of people throughout the diocese and diocesan administration who have been mightily impressed by your patience, candor, generosity, and endless concern and dedication to every aspect of the On Mission concerns in building up the Church of Pittsburgh! Obviously we are not quite all on the same page and have certainly benefitted from the opportunity to listen and share with one another. From what I understand there certainly has been a significant impact on the careful evaluation of the originally proposed models. Hopefully everyone realized in reviewing the parish summaries at the cluster meetings every comment shared at or after the parish consultations was recorded and been weighed in any alteration of the proposed models we will witness in the days ahead. Thanks one and all! I also want to ask you to continue to keep the work and involvement of all concerned with our diocesan future in your prayers and the prayer of the local Church, especially our Bishop! As we all do so I ask we all seek to openly and willingly live a spirit and practice of collaboration, compassion, and courage with all our brothers and sisters, those in the know, those still with fears and anxiety at what change is coming, and what it will demand of us to open our arms, like he does for each of us, as we gaze on the cross, to extend that love all we meet. We must remember the invitation of the Lord is to be always and everywhere his living body, that in him, nothing is impossible, and with him we have the opportunity to bring together the richness of each person and church community to be stronger, more faithful to our baptismal calling, and ever more joyful that with him we are able to touch the whole world with his love. Finally I call your attention to Mary Ellen s list of critical meetings for priests and deacons on the Vicariate level, Priests, Deacons, On Mission parish teams on the District levels, and then your responsibility to be the ongoing informed channel of communication with the parish community at large. There is a critical Webinar for priests on April 19, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 pm in the Cardinal s Great Hall at Saint Paul Seminary (more details will be shared at the Vicariate Meetings with the Bishop). Please continue to watch these pages and especially the weekly email from Father Nick Vaskov which will be sent to every priest and parish on Wednesday of each week actually beginning on this very day it is an organized attempt to share critical, up to date news in a single email just one day a week rather than endless individual notes from diverse sources any time someone might think you just need to know. God Bless one and all through the remaining days of Lent into a Glorious Easter!!! Fr. Cain Dates to remember!!! Priests On Mission 1PM Webinar Dates: Wed., April 19 th (1-3PM), Tues.
