His Eminence Cardinal Collins Visit to Orillia! Our Archbishop, Cardinal Collins will be visiting Guardian Angels Parish on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the 5:00 pm Mass. His Eminence will preside at the Holy Mass to lead us in thanksgiving to the Lord for 105 years of our beautiful Church. We are grateful to welcome our Cardinal and all parishioners, friends and visitors. Cardinal Collins will also be our special guest speaker at the First Annual Bishop s Dinner. Thank you to our fund raising committee members for all their great work and to all of you who supported this major fund raising event for our Church. Ask anything about Life, Faith and God Alpha is a series of interactive conversations about faith that allows anyone to explore Life, Faith and God in a friendly and informal environment. In each session there s dinner and a video, followed by a small group discussion. It runs for 10 weeks starting September 14 to November 23 at 6:15 pm in Guardian Angels Church Hall. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd will be continuing to offer this beautiful formation process for young children ages 3-5 for the 2016-2017 school year. We meet once a month, sew children s clothes from donated material and send them to developing countries through the charity Canadian food for Children. Donations of material are gratefully accepted. Our next meeting is Wednesday, September 28 from 10:00 am-11:30 am in the parish hall. Next Sunday after all Masses we will have a display and members available to answers any questions. Altar Server Training Any boy or girl who has received their First Communion is welcome to attend either Monday, September 26 or Tuesday, September 27 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. This is hands on training with the chance to learn and practice activities including carrying the cross or candles and ringing the bells. St. Columbkille-Marriage Preparation Program A Marriage Preparation Course will be held at St. Columbkille Parish Hall, beginning Friday, October 21, Saturday, October 22 and concluding Sunday, October 23 following the 11:00 am Mass. Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion for children Grade 2 and older The sacrament formation process will begin after the Christmas holidays in January and will run until the Easter season. A reminder of this will be in the December church bulletins and school newsletters. Please be aware that your child must be baptized in order for these next sacraments to take place. If your child is not baptized, our church offers the Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC) for children ages 2-12, beginning October 16, 2016.
