He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." Luke 4:18-19 (NKJ) It is the vision of Mt. Olive to be a church that is intentional in its efforts to identify and meet the needs of broken, hurt and oppressed people in the greater Glen Allen area through the message and ministry of Jesus Christ. MOBC FAITH DEVELOPMENT!! KINGDOMTIDE August 26 November 30, 2013 (The Pulpit attire is Green) DAILY BIBLE READINGS 2 We are in the season of KINGDOMTIDE, the color of KINGDOMTIDE is GREEN. The color GREEN symbolizes growth. The cloths on the Communion table and podium are changed to coincide with each season of the Christian calendar. KINGDOMTIDE runs from August 26 until Advent. KINGDOMTIDE is the newest of the seasons, dating no farther back than the late 1930 s. KINGDOMTIDE gives place for due attention to the eternal presence of Christ and His Kingship with the parallel emphasis upon our stewardship. Its emphasis on the kingship of Christ and His kingdom, challenges us in our daily lives and in every area of our existence. General Theme For This Quarter: FIRST THINGS God s creative work is seen throughout the stories found in Genesis and Exodus. The quarter begins with the creation of the world and of human beings, explores the creation of a nation that began with God s promises to Abraham and Sarah and their heirs, and then studies the stories of the Hebrew people on their journey out of captivity towards freedom. We hope that you will join us as we are focusing on: THIS WEEK S LESSON: A PROMISE OF LAND Genesis 15:7-21 God appeared to Abram in Canaan and promised to give the land to his offspring. NEXT WEEK S LESSON: FIRST NATION Points: 1) You serve wholeheartedly. 2) You serve as you re doing it for the Lord. 3) Know that God has an eternal reward for you. UNIT #2 This is a four-lesson unit that develops the promise made to Abraham by God. The first lessons tell of the promise of land and children to Abraham and Sarah. Lesson 3 sheds light on the blessing promised to Abraham's lineage. The final lesson outlines the blessing being passed to Jacob. A PROMISE TO SARAH Genesis 17:15-17; 18:9-15; 21:1-7 October 13, 2013 God promised to bless Sarah and give her a son; and she shall be a mother of many nations. When God makes a promise, it, in essence, is already done. Sermon Highlights: October 1, 2013 Title: A Passion to Serve Text: Colossians 3:18-24 Main Idea: We are all called to serve. When you have a passion to serve: For the full message order a CD or DVD of the service from the Media Ministry. CDs $5.00; Double CDs $7.00 ; VHS $15.00; DVDs $12.00 * MONDAY: A Childless Wife Genesis 11:27-32 * TUESDAY: A Beautiful Wife Genesis 12:10-20 * WEDNESDAY: A Threatened Wife Genesis 16:1-6 * THURSDAY: The Promise of a Covenant Genesis 17:18-22 * FRIDAY: Dispelling the Competition Genesis 21:8-14 * SATURDAY: Mourning a Beloved Wife Genesis 23:1-6 * SUNDAY: Bearing a Child of Promise Genesis 17:15-17;18:9-15; 21:1-7 HOW TO ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST INTO YOUR HEART Perhaps while reading the announcements you realized you have never made a Christian commitment. Don t delay that decision! We encourage you to embrace God s love today and receive the salvation that only Jesus Christ gives. Here are five simple steps you can take to find assurance of salvation. 1. Recognize your need. The Bible tell us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Rom. 3:23) All of us are sinners, and we must admit our need 2. for a Savior. 3. Repent of your sins. Our sins create a wall that separates us from God. By confessing our sins and turning from them, you will find forgiveness. The Bible promises: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). 4. Believe in Jesus. God sent His only Son to die so that He could pay for all our sins. Put your faith in Him and believe in His power to save you. The Bible says, For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). 5. Receive His salvation. God has given us a great gift in His Son, but we must receive His gift. Thank Him for loving and forgiving you, and ask Him to live in your heart. His promise to us is clear: But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12). 5. Confess your faith. The Bible assures us: If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Rom. 10:9). You have been born again and are now part of God s family. Tell someone else what Jesus has done in your life!

What are the symptoms of women's breast cancer? When breast cancer starts out, it is too small to feel and does not cause signs and symptoms. As it grows, breast cancer can cause changes in how the breast looks or feels. Symptoms may include New lump in the breast or underarm (armpit). Thickening or swelling of part of the breast. Irritation or dimpling of breast skin. Redness or flaky skin in the nipple area or the breast. Pulling in of the nipple or pain in the nipple area. Nipple discharge other than breast milk, including blood. Any change in the size or the shape of the breast. Pain in any area of the breast. Monthly breast self-exams are an option for all women beginning by age 20. Women who regularly examine their breasts become more aware of how their breasts normally feel. They are more likely to notice changes -- including masses or lumps -- that could be early signs of cancer. It's best to check about a week after your period, when breasts are not swollen or tender. If you no longer have a period, examine yourself on the same day every month. If you see or feel a change in your breasts, see your doctor immediately. But remember, most of the time breast changes are not cancer.

You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: It is more blessed to give than to receive.
